1. Read Job 28:28, Psalm 111.10, and Proverbs 1:7 and 9:10.

According to these
passages, what action helps us acquire wisdom?

“The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,

and to shun evil is understanding.”

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,

but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

These passages all unite in a sense that in order for one to gain wisdom, he
must first know how to fear God. The fear of the Lord is an awareness that you are in
the presence of a holy, just, and almighty God and that He will hold you accountable
for your motives, thoughts, words, and actions. To fear God is to desire to live in
harmony with His righteous standards and to honor Him in all that you do. (Ref:

2. Which of your actions show that you fear the Lord?

I make sure that I always ask for God’s guidance in everything that I do
because I do them not for me but for Him. I try to be the best version of myself for I
know that at the end of the day, all of my actions will be accounted. I glorify His
name and I respect him as my Father in Heaven.

3. What actions do the following verses suggest are ways to fear the Lord?

a) Deuteronomy 10:12
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the
Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord
your God with all your heart and with all your soul

To fear the Lord, one must be able to honor him and abide by His
commandments with all his hear and soul. One must be able to love Him the
way He loves everyone of us.

b) Joshua 24:14
And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey
him.”

The key action in proclaiming the fear of God is by serving and

obeying His directives. We must always treat each other, as God’s children,
with respect and care.

c) 1 Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart;
consider what great things he has done for you.

We should always be thankful for all the blessings God has showered
upon us and do something in return. We must be faithful and loyal to God by
serving Him and serving the community.

d) Psalm 22:23
You who fear the Lord, praise him!
All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!
Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!

To fear the Lord means praising, glorifying, worshipping, admiring,

and respecting Him though praying, acting good deeds, etc.

e) Psalms 112:1
Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands.

People should be able to find the greatness inside God’s

commandments, finding connection to the meaning of these in our lives. We
should praise and glorify Him as a symbol of our love and fear to Him.

f) Isaiah 50:10

Who among you fears the Lord

and obeys the word of his servant?
Let the one who walks in the dark,
who has no light,
trust in the name of the Lord
and rely on their God.

Our actions reflect our love of God, our actions reflect our loyalty to
God. We must all trust in the Lord with all our hearts and we will not be put
in a bad place.

4. Why is the fear of the Lord the beginning of wisdom?

To be afraid of God is to love him ceaselessly with a love so true and so pure
that all you want to do is to please Him and be loved by Him. To live in glory
of His light means to act upon our beliefs and faith. Knowing what’s good and
what’s wrong is the start of gaining wisdom understanding and applying the
fundamental fact about the way things really are. Wisdom is in itself the act
of living the scripture and word of God. That is the reason why fearing the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
7. List the top three moral dilemmas that you have had to struggle with
during the past six months. From what areas of your life did these moral
dilemmas arise?

Dilemma Area of Life

Our trainer for a contest was the Social
judge of the same contest.
I had a choice between having a Social
somewhat good relationship with a
guy and having good grades.
My best friend and I don’t get along Social
that easily.

12. Reread the list of the top three moral dilemmas you faced during the past six
months. Which of the five steps of making wise decisions did you take for each
dilemma? Summarize how the steps worked, your final decision, and the outcome (if
known).

Dilemma 1

Despite the professionalism of the judge/our trainer during the contest, other
contestants still think that we won because of that issue. However, they are not
entirely sure if the judge was really our trainer so they asked us if it was true and I
did not respond, while my other co-member coated it with a white lie since our
trainer/judge also instructed us the same so that won’t lose the jobs. Right now, as
I’m working with the people who were asking if it was indeed him, they are not
asking about the issue anymore. It still feels airy because it hasn’t been really
cleared out.

Dilemma 2

I chose better grades. My worksheets and quizzes became low at that point and I
don’t want to disappoint my parents. As of now, the prospects of love interest before
and I are friends and I have better grades. Win win.

Dilemma 3

There was this time when I had a new friend to come over at my house and sleep
overnight there for a project we were working on. We decided to meet at a mall.
However, my best friend asked me if I can accompany her to the same mall to eat
and buy the needed materials for her project so I decided to go and told my friend to
meet me an hour after the class was dismissed. When my best friend knew that I had
someone to come over, she said that I should go since I practically don’t have time
with her but I still stayed as I waited for my friend. After an hour, my friend came
and my best friend suddenly walked on a different direction. I chose to be with my
friend since she’s still new at the place and we have far more important things to
handle.
