Culture in Different Continents

Culture plays a large part in everyone’s lives. It influences people on how they see life, on whom
they will worship, and which is right and which is wrong. In short, it makes up some of the
characteristics of a person. Among the different continents in the world, it is impossible to have an
exactly similar culture. If two countries from different continents has almost similar culture, they may
differ on the meaning behind of the specific action. These cultural differences make countries unique
from each other, however, it also causes misunderstanding among them.

A culture of a country can consist of their languages, how they dresses, their religion, their
folkways, or their traditional song and dances. The language used by a person can already distinguished
him from where he lives. Even though you are not totally familiar with the language, their mere accent
could give you an idea. A country can also have two, three or more language spoken by their people.
Language can also be confusing, one of these is the two kinds of English language, the British English and
the American English, it may be both an English language but they differ on the words they used. People
also show their culture on the way they dress. In other continents, it is appropriate to wear clothes that
are almost naked, but in others, people must wear clothes that does not show much skin. Like in
America, it is not a big deal to wear daring clothes, or even to walk around naked, but in other Muslim
countries, people, especially women, are not allowed to show much skin for it would have another
meaning to the men. Religion contributes a big role in the culture of a country. It is important in a
country because it affects its people’s values. The most widespread religion among different continent is
Christianity. People’s religion helps them on their morality, on how they perceive what is right from
what is wrong. Culture were also shown on the folkways or the custom of a country, these are the
traditional behavior or way of life of the country’s people. In Philippines, Filipinos are taught to say “po”
and “opo” to those older and higher than you, it is a sign of respect for them. While in other American
countries, children are allowed to call their parents on a first name basis, but here in Philippines it is a
sign of disrespect. In other countries, you are not allowed to point other people using your index finger
for it would mean differently for them, while in Philippines point people using index finger does not
have any meaning. And lastly, the traditional song and dances of different countries. Every countries or
continents has a known song and dances, these are mostly performed on different occasions of the
country. These performances is a part of the culture of the countries because some portrays the history
of the country.

Every country of every continent has a culture of their own. A culture that is a part of their
history, a part of their present life, and will be a part of the future generations. Culture is important to
every region because it represents the identity of the country. It is what makes the country be known
from hundreds of different countries around the world. It is what makes the continent different from
other continents. Differences that should be used for the good of the many, and not to belittle other
country. Countries always wanting to prove themselves that they are the better one. Continents wanting
to be the superior one. When in fact, there is actually no better or superior culture, because every
culture has their own beauty.
