Good morning trainees! I am Abegail S. Espinosa, your qualified trainer for


the qualification Housekeeping NC II.

COMPETENCIES

The qualification Housekeeping NC II is composed of the Basic


Competencies, Common Competencies, and the Core competencies which
are...

1. Provide housekeeping services to the guest


2. Clean and prepare rooms for incoming guests
3. Provide valet/ butler service
4. Laundry linen and guest clothes
5. Clean public areas, facilities, and equipment
6. Deal with/ handle intoxicatd guests

CBT

Today I will also discuss the competencey based training or CBT.

It is the delivery approach that focuses on the competency development of the


learner as a a result of the training.

It focuses on what the learner can actually do.

Its main concern is the attainment and application of skills, knowledge and
attitude to a specific learning competency.

So basically, In CBT, the education and training starts and ends with the
costumer’s needs.

CBT has 10 principles and they are:


1. Based on curriculum developed from the CS
-Learning is based on Competency-based curriculum and Training
Regulations

2. Modular in structure
-a trainee should be competent on the module he is currently trained
before going to another module

3. Self-paced
-trainees are treated as individual learners with different
characteristics, learning styles, and needs

4. Training is based on Work that must be performed.


-learning is based on actual industry practices

5. Training materials are based on competency standards


-CBLM used are conformed to the cbc and cs

6. Assessment of learners is based on the collection of evidences of work


performance
- Assessment is done to test whether the trainee is able to perform
the job based on the required criteria in the CS

7. Based both on and off the job components


- Better learning in industry and school partnership

8. The system allows for RPL


-workers and trainees can have prior skills recognized

9. Training allows for multiple entry and exit


-There is flexibility for entry and exit of programs

10. Training programs are registerd to the Unified TVET Program


Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS)

Some of the Roles of a Trainer

1. Serves as a team member


2. Manage learning-consult rather than providing the info
3. Motivate and assist
4. Evaluate achievements

Role of trainees

1. Select what you want to learn


2. Compete against job standard (not against each other)
3. Learn accordng to your interest, needs, and abilities
4. Receive credit for what you already know

During the training, you will be given the COMPETENCY BASED LEARNING
MATERIAL (CBLM) which contains the following:

-Information Sheets- consists of the learning contents that you need to


learn. Each information sheet has learning objectives that you need to attain
while reading it.

-Self-Check is found every after each info sheet. It will help you test yourself
if you have attained the learning objectives.

-Task sheets, operation sheet, and job sheets are activity sheets that will
help you practice the skills previously discussed in the information sheet.

-A performance criteria checklist is provided which will allow for self-


evaluation

For our evaluation system , there are only two results-

If you have met the standard set in each module, then you are COMPETENT

But if i saw in your assessment that you still need some practice, then you
will be given NOT YET COMPETENT.

it is the Form 1.1 or the Self Assessment Check which you also have to
accomplish.

The objectives of these are to recognize your prior learning and for me to
determine your learning style, charateristics, and training needs.

DAY 2

Good morning trainees. This is your attendance, kindly write your name and
affix your signature.
Trainees, I have with me the result of your pretest. Today I will deploy you to
your work station and assign your specific task.

Trainee no. 1, I have reviewed your portfolio and the result of your
pretest. It shows that you do not have prior learning for our
qualification. We have 6 modules, which module do you want to start
with?

Trainee 1: First module Ma’am.

Okay. This is your CBLM. You may now proceed to the Learning Resource
Area.I will see you after two hours. Should you have any question please do
not hesitate to ask me, okay?

Trainee no. 2, I have here your portfolio and the result of your pretest.
Due to your work related experience, it shows that you have prior
learning on Providing housekeeping services to the guest, Providing
valet/butler service, Laundering linen and guest clothes, Cleaning
public areas, facilities, and equipment, and dealing with/ handling
intoxicated guests. (1,3,4,5,6)

To validate these, i will ask some questions about your RPL and you
need to undergo institutional assessment.

1. What are the two kinds of housekeeping and decribe each?


Domestic Housekeeping- refers to housekeeping maintenance in a
house.
Institutional housekeeping- refers to housekeeping maintenance
in commercial lodging establishments like hotels, resort, inns and
apartels.

2. Will you give 3 examples of chemicals used in cleaning


-disinfectant, wood polish and toilet bowl cleaner

3. What are the considerations in sorting clothes for laundry


- Color, extent of dirt, and type of fabric

DAY 3

Checking of attendance

 Attendance monitoring
 Conduct inst. Assessment to Trainee#2 Module 2. Same dialogue.
Same procedure.

Trainer: “Trainee#1, you are now about to exit the program. But before that,
kindly answer your post test and fill-up the program evaluation to assess
the effectiveness of your training, the training facilities and the trainer. (post
test and evaluation done).

You can now apply for National Assessment at TESDA Provincial Office and
look for Ms. Odessa. Make sure to bring your assessment fee and 3 pcs.
Passport sized pictures with white background. Once again congratulations
and thank you for choosing CHS as your training center.”
