•Knowledge-based skills that top managers
use to navigate through the development
needs of their organizations.
•They include visualization, understanding,
innovation, creative thinking, problem-
solving etc.
•They are different from the human relation
and technical skills.

•Conceptual skills are the contents in the
wisdom box that is required for success in
any organization.
•Conceptual skills is a topic in management,
but has a far-reaching implications in the
field of leadership.

Visualization skill
•Ability to form a picture of something or a
situation in the mind.
•Having a vision about a better future if one
or two things are put in place.

•Having a thorough knowledge of something, an
environment or a situation.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get
wisdom: and with all thy getting get

Creative thinking skill
•Ability to think around a product or a
situation from a different and better
perspective.

•This is critical for effective
leadership.

Innovation skill
•It is an art of creating something new from
an existing product or situation.
Strategic thinking skill
•Ability to think and come up with tasks that
will produce better results.
•For leadership to be effective, strategies for
the realization of goals are very vital.
•Nehemiah succeeded in rebuilding the wall
of Jerusalem as a result of strategic thinking.
Problem-solving skill
• Ability to provide answers to raging
problems in an organization or among a
group of people.
•It requires sound knowledge of a problem
that requires a solution.
•It demands listening skill.
Conceptual Skills and Leadership
• Without conceptual skills, leadership
cannot be effective.
•Human relation and technical skills are not
enough for leadership effectiveness
•Leadership development requires the
learning and practicing of conceptual skills.
