Here is the instruction: I will be playing four songs and you are just going
to guess the correct title of song being played. I will call the first student to

That’s right! We are going to discuss about: Formulating the Wh-


questions.

II. INTERACTION

A. Okay class, you will be having another group activity, entitled:


“Complete The Story”. There will be a story entitled: “Jasmine The
Giraffe”. We will read first the short story. I’ll read it first, and
afterwards, you are going to read the assigned part for each group.
After reading the story, there are 5 questions to be answered. You will
be given only 5 minutes to do it. Do the “Wala na, finish na clap”
once you are done answering the questions.

Same points will be given to the group with the fastest correct answer and
the highest number of correct answers. Is that clear,class?

JASMINE THE GIRAFFE

Group 1: Jasmine the giraffe wandered away from her mother to find the
tastiest leaves.
Group 2: Suddenly, Jasmine realized she was lost!
Group3: She looked for her mother among the trees but saw only monkey.
Group 4: She looked in the field but saw only zebras.
Group 5: Finally, at noon, Jasmine heard her mother call from the hilltop,
“Jasmine, lunch is ready!”

B. Now that you have finished the activity, you will be having another
group work. This is entitled: “Representing…And I Thank You!”
Here is the instruction: There will be a representative in each group
who will seat in front. There should be no repetition of players in each
round. I will pick a WH-question and you are going to give the
meaning. You only have 5 seconds to answer. I will ring the bell,
which means “GO” ahead and write your answer. The group who will
get the fastest correct answer will get 1 point. Is that understood?

Since you already have an idea as to formulating the WH- question, let us
further discuss to deepen your understanding.

Question words are also known as WH- Questions.


- They are formed by inserting wh-word in place of the missing
information.
- Focus on particular part of sentence
- Ask for information and we don’t expect yes-no answer
PATTERN: WH- + AN AUXILIARY VERB (BE, DO OR HAVE) +
SUBJECT + MAIN VERB

III. INTEGRATION

Let us now move-on to your performance task. You are going to make an
Announcement. It can be: invitation for birthdays, parties, meetings,
contests etc. After that, you’re going to present your announcement in
class. You can have: oral reading, role play, or tableau to make your
presentation creative. You will be given 3 minutes to brainstorm, and 1
minute to perform. Is that understood?
