NARRATIVE REPORT IN

GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT TRAINING


SY 2019-2020

I. INTRODUCTION
The GAD (Gender and Development) approach focuses on the socially
constructed basis of differences between men and women and emphasizes
the need to challenge existing gender roles and relations. GAD involves the
differentiations attributed by a given culture to women and men in the
following aspects such as social roles, capacities, traits and characteristics.
To ensure that an absolute, definite, genuine and potential gender
biases are removed, the government embarked on gender and development
(GAD) as one of its priority programs. GAD focuses on the principle that
development is for all. Everyone in society, female or male, has the right to
equal opportunities to achieve a full and satisfying life. Women and men
enjoy the same conditions for realizing their full human rights and
potentials to contribute to development as well as benefit from the results.

II. ACTIVITIES
Deped - Agoncillo District considers and holds on that
gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential for
meeting teachers’ goals of comprehensive and continued
development, as gender equality needs to be pursued in its own
right for a just and equal society, and foster better development
outcomes. Some programs aim to address the various gender
needs and concerns of employees, officers, concessionaires of the
district and other individuals. To get involved in this kind of
activity, Pook Elementary School Deped Personnel
(Teaching and Non-Teaching) joined the GAD Training
2019 held at Shercon Resort, Mataas na Kahoy. Magna
Kultura Foundation (a Philippine NGO for Arts and Culture),
confirms that the Traditional Filipino Games are still very much
alive in the Philippines. In many urban and rural areas, a great
majority of Filipino children still play outdoor street games as
most of them are still unable to own expensive high-tech gadgets.
Games like Patintero, Tumbang Preso, Piko, Sipa, Trumpo, and
many others, are still played daily in the neighborhood. The 2019

observance of International Women’s Day (IWD) was a result of the
organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century. This year’s
celebration aims to pay tribute to all women leaders who passionately led
and continue to advance women’s advocacies. Their key roles and
accomplishments in leadership, power and decision making will be
highlighted in order to influence and break the conservative mindset and
belief that politics and leadership are not for women.
The celebration is a perfect time to honor all the ladies of
Agoncillo District who overpoweringly led the agency to its success in
the celebration of Women’s month on 24th day of March 2019. The
contribution of every woman in the family, agency, government
institution and society were highlighted in Dr. Agrifina A. Dirain, District
Supervisor, message during the program. She even recognized the III. IMPACT
dedicated service rendered by every women in teaching service and their
dedication being a mother. As every family values the "light of the Success of this activity is the
household", Agoncillo District Deped Personnel pays tribute and honor to result of high intention, sincere effort,
all the mothers and grandmothers in the agency who sacrificed and intelligent direction, and skillful
