extracts. The research study was focused to answer how effective was the

three plant extracts which are the blue ternate, aloe vera, and rose water

and to determine if there is a significant between the three trials

performed. An experiment design was used to answer the scientific

question at hand. It denotes a step-by-step procedure of experiment to

arrive at findings.

The method used in making a body cream are the three plant

extracts. The main instrument used for data collection was the survey
questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to evaluate how

acceptable was the making of body cream with the use of three plant

extracts from the three trials performed. When the data collection was

already performed through evaluation, the mean and analysis of variance

(ANOVA) were statistical manipulations utilized.

SCIENTIFIC PROBLEM

Production of Body Cream from Plant Extracts

Nowadays, due to consumers' worries about chemical compounds,

they are becoming more common in formulations. Antioxidants are the key

advantages mentioned for plant extracts used in skin care and can

enhance the appearance of our skin tone and texture. Some examples of

blue ternate and Aloe Vera plants, whose extracts have demonstrated

strong skin care properties, are provided in this study. Prior to the use of

any product to manufacture a cosmetic, plants were the primary source of

all cosmetics. Most individuals, however, prefer to use it in its natural

state. Without running the risk of undesired side effects, this could be the

safest way to take advantage of its properties. Body cream as an extract

plant is ideal for all skin types and suitable for any skin type. The presence

of antioxidant nutrients is a main compound in aloe vera juice that can

help protect the skin. The Blue Ternate/ Clitoria Ternatea is indeed a good

substance for both the mind and body, but the maxim "all things in

moderation" must still be heeded.

Clitoria ternatea commonly known as “blue pea” “blue ternate “Asian

pigeonwings”, “bluebellvine, “blue pea”, “butterfly pea”, “cordofan pea” and

“Darwin pea” is a plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae. . It has

two main varieties based on the colour of the petals, namely white and

blue flowered varieties.

A variety of compounds have been used to create a body

cream to eliminate a dry skin. Anti-oxidants in blue butterfly pea flower

1
stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis helping to rejuvenate the skin,

reduce wrinkles and other effects of ageing skin. body cream is used to

treat and prevent dry, cracked skin while keeping it supple and

moisturized.

Dry skin is an example of it. Dry skin is a condition characterized by

scratching, and cracking that is painful. For a number of purposes, it may

occur. You may have dry skin naturally. But even if your skin appears to

be oily, from time to time, you can develop dry skin. Usually, body creams

are characterized as thicker than body lotion, but not that thick as body

butter, however, is the ratio of water and oils, which is why creams are

actually emollient, but not as hydrating and productive as body butter per

se.

Moisturizing is one of the most important and underrated ways that

you can care for your skin. Not only does a moisturizing regimen keep skin

looking luminous, but it also slow down common signs of aging, softens

rough patches, protects skin against environmental damage, and

replenishes. This medication is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent

dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations (e.g, diaper rash,

skin burns from radiation therapy). Emollients are substances that soften

and moisturize the skin and decrease itchig and flaking.

The reason why the researchers decided to make a body cream

that was made from plant extracts such as Clitoria ternnatea commonly

known as “blue ternate”, Rose water and Aloe Vera. Making your own

body cream is great alternative. In this project, the researchers aimed to

2
produce a body cream by using plant extract which can encourage others

to go beyond their imaginations and make new inventions.

RESEARCH PROBLEM

The research project is entitled “Production of Body Cream from

Plant Extracts”. This was conducted to develop a homemade body cream

by using plant extracts. This scientific investigation is an applied research

which proposed to give extravagant philanthropy in the field of

experimentation.

The research study was focused on making body cream from plant

extracts. The capstone idea, was guided by the following questions:

1. How effective are the plant extracts be used as natural body

cream such as;

1.2 blue termate;

1.3 aloe vera; and

1.4 Rose water?

2. Is there any significant difference between the trials performed?

3
SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE

This part provides the review and related literature highlighting the

history, definition, importance, properties and benefits of the variables in

this study. These literatures served as the basis in finding substantial

quality from the variables used to perform the experiment in body cream.

The chosen references were internet source, results of experiments

and essays pertaining to production of body cream of plants extract.

Body Cream

Body Cream is used, like lotion, to treat avoid dry, cracking skin

while keeping it supple and moisturized. It is best for dry to overly dry skin

and for normal skin during the colder winter months, since it provides a

barrier that provides ultra-hydration. Body cream is thicker and contains

water and oil with a higher viscosity, or a sticky combination.

According to Skin Care Physician.com, creams penetrate the skin,

and have a barrier that prevents more skin moisture loss than lotion.

Creams tend to feel greasier, however. An even mixture of 50 percent oil

and 50 percent water is typically a pharmaceutical or dermatology cream.

In cosmetic cream and lotion, however, the ratio of water and oil varies

and is often influenced by other ingredients, such as paraffin. It is

commonly sold in a tub or jar container since body cream is thicker.

Body cream is a blended of oil and water with plant extract, but with

a higher oil concentration. Creams are thicker in consistency than lotions

4
and provide a barrier that keeps skin ultra-hydrated. Body creams is

usually sold in a jar container or tub because of its thickness. Creams do

feel greasier than most lotions because of their higher percentage. Like

lotion body cream is used to treat and prevent dry, cracked skin while

keeping it supple and moisturized. Because it provides a barrier that

provide a barrier ultra- hydration, its best for dry to excessively dry skin

and for normal skin during the harsher winter months. Oil based cream

should not be used on your face unless you have excessive dryness. But

they’re ideal for dry skin on your hands, feet, and legs. While applying

body cream may seem like simple step in your body care routine. Some

parts of the body are typically dryer than others. These are commonly the

hands, elbows, knees and neck. you may notice increased of skin itching

over these areas, and they may be need body cream throughout the day,

on top of your post bathing daily application. You may want to gently

massage and warm the areas before applying more body cream, as this

will help you absorb and retain the moisture in dryer areas. For your

hands, look into a specially – formulated hand cream, as these products

are specially targeted for repairing and maintaining hands which come into

more contact with pollutants than any other part of the body. Body creams

prevent skin drying off and peeling, skin more smooth, moisturized and

soft.

Body cream is important for the body to have a moisturized skin, it

helps your body skin look healthy and glowing. As your body daily it

becomes dry here body cream moisturises it and protects it from sun

damage. The body cream is used to put some moisturizer film back onto

5
the person’s skin. It’s typical for our skin to lose some moisture from being

exposed to the elements like the sun, wind and dirt, which rubs the skin of

some oily protections every time a person take a shower or bath, most of

the skin oils and dirt are being removed which makes your skin feel fry

and itchy. To correct the dry skin condition, a body cream mixed that is

from plant extracts put back some scented film of oils that keeps the skin

soft and pliant. The moist oily film coating tend to maintain and hold some

of the natural body film of plant extracts lubricants that naturally

evaporates and escapes as the skin get exposed to winds or air particles.

Body cream is usually thicker consistency. This can mean that the cream

has a greater concentration of hard oils that make cream thicker.

Depending on the reason why is the cream thicker, it may be moisturizing

for the skin. Creams tend to stay longer and seal moisture into the skin.

Creams seem heavier on the skin to some individuals.

Benefits of Body cream from plant extracts, it retains moisture and

helps your skin glow. It lengthens the time of your self-tanner, it softens

your skin and soothes rough patches, it can be used as a nice light scent,

and while massaging it to the skin it can be quite relaxing. When you use

body cream daily, you’re taking time to treat yourself. Body cream can be

an amazing way to enhance your skincare routine.

6
Rose Water

Rose water is manufactured in water by steeping or steam-distilling

rose petals. It is considered a by-product of the rose essential oil

production process, a procedure that uses steam distillation to extract

volatile rose oils. Although not as concentrated as rose oil, the solution

containing beneficial compounds contained in rose petals is rose water.

There's also a tiny amount of rose oil on it. In natural skincare and beauty

goods, perfumes, household cleansers and even in cooking, rose water

has been used for centuries. Rose water can make a valuable addition to

your skincare and beauty routine.

According to dermatologists, due to its natural antioxidant,

antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory capacity. Roses contain antioxidants

that kill free radicals that promote damage to the skin and symptoms of

skin aging, such as wrinkles, dark spots, dryness, etc. Rose water can

help the skin to maintain its moisture, even texture and one, by combating

the effects of free radicals.

According to Dr. Axe (2019, 29) for those who suffer from acne,

dermatitis or rosacea, its ability to combat bacterial infections and soothe

inflammation can help. One 2010 study found that, even compared to

other essential oils, compounds present in rose petals exhibit intense

bactericidal activities. It can also make the skin that has suffers in the past

refresh, relax, brighten and tone, likely helping to reduce the appearance

of dark spots and scars. Soothing dryness, red skin, shaving burns and

embedded hair are other uses. It will prevent your skin from

7
getting too oily or too dry by using rose water. To aid with hydration and

encourage healing, simply pour several drops on a soft cotton pad, then

sweep it over the irritated region of your skin. Rose water is a natural

remedy for the skin and hair that is created in water by distilling rose

petals. Its antibacterial, astringent, hydrating and anti-inflammatory

properties are helpful. As well as minimizing redness, acne, inflammation,

rosacea, ulcers and razor burn, it can help hydrate, soothe, clean and

protect the skin.

Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that can help minimize

irritated skin redness, get rid of acne, eczema, and dermatitis. Rose water

also helps in healing scars, cuts and wounds due to its antibacterial

properties. To lighten the skin pigmentation too, rose water may be used.

Rose water extracts your skin’s oil and dirt by unclogging your pores.

Blue ternate

The Butterfly Pea Flower is known for its vivid blue edible flowers

(also scientifically referred to as Clitoria Ternatea). The blue butterfly pea

vine has been used in Ayurveda as well as traditional Asian and Middle

Eastern medicine for decades, apart from its many culinary applications.

Its health benefits (improved memory, a balanced mood and a strong

immune system) are more and more endorsed by modern technology.

Anti-oxidants promote the production of collagen and elastin in the blue

butterfly pea flower, helping to rejuvenate the skin, eliminate wrinkles and

other symptoms of aged skin. (Jillian Levy, CHHC. 2019)

8
According to Dr. Devika Icecreamwala, a bord-certified

dermatologist(2019,17) the aesthetician states that blue butterfly peas are

rich in polyphenols, or proanthocyanidin, and flavonoids that avoid the

harmful effects of free radicals that weakenband degrade the skin.

‘Proanthocyanidin is one of the most potent antioxidants; it is capable of

increasing skin cell collagen and elasticity. The effects is firmer, plumper

skin and a healthy complexion. “Even derms cannot deny the skin.”

Clitoria ternatea commonly known as Butterfly pea belonging to

the family Fabaceae and sub-family Papilionaceous is a perennial

leguminous twiner, which originated from tropical Asia and later was

distributed widely in South and Central America, East and West Indies,

China and India, where it has become naturalized.[1] Clitoria ternate

commonly also called Clitoria, blue-pea, kordofanpea (Sudan), cunha

(Brazil or pokindong (Philippines) is a vigorous, summergrowing, legume

of old world origin. Clitoria L. comprises 60 species distributed mostly

within the tropical belt with a few species found in temperate areas

The use of plants for medicinal purposes is as old as humankind

and it is likely that new products containing natural oils and herbs will

continue to appear on the market in the coming years. Before the use of

synthetic substances with identical properties, plants were the principal

source of all cosmetics.

9
Aloe Vera

For decades, the aloe vera plant has been renowned for its health,

beauty, medicinal and skin care properties. The name aloe vera comes

from the Arabic word "Alloeh" which means " shining bitter substance,"

while "vera" means "true" in Latin. Aloe vera was known by Greek

scientists 2000 years ago as the i=universal panacea. The Egyptians

name the plant of immortality " the plant of immortality." today, aloe vera

vera. For decades, the aloe vera plant has been renowned for its health,

Aloe Vera contains antioxidants and help moisturize our skin. Aloe

Vera also be used on the air to treat dandruff by rubbing it inti your air and

scalp. Blue ternate reduce wrinkles and other effects of ageing skin. Aloe

Vera, coconut oil, blue ternate and rose water, is an ingredient that has an

antioxidant and suitable for all type of skin and good for our body health,

and has an attractive color making and more suitable as a body cream. It

serves to maintain the skin moisturize. One of the Coconut Oil Benefits is

moisturizing the skin naturally. Just like the oil in general, coconut oil will

hydrate the skin so it can be used as a substitute for a powerful nighttime

moisturizer. Another advantage is that coconut oil is safe to use as a daily

beauty product. Coconut oil cream has a soft texture so it is suitable for

moisturizing the skin.

10
As a body cream, Pure Aloe Vera is used to relieve dry skin, ashy

skin, itchy skin, and to moisturize the skin. Pure Aloe Vera can treat minor

burns or sunburn and soothe them. It can also treat cuts and wounds that

fight bacteria to alleviate pain and repair them. Though Aloe Vera is

perfect for moisturizing oily skin, it can also be used to moisturize dry skin.

Aloe vera gel is readily absorbed, making it an idea.

According to a 2012 study, Aloe vera contains aloin a natural

depigmentation compound that has been shown to lighten the skin and act

effectively as a non-toxic treatment for hyperpigmentation. It is best known

for the treatment of skin injuries, but it also has many other applications

that may be useful for wellbeing. Aloe vera is a common medicinal plant

used for thousands of years by people. Aloe vera is dense, short-stalked

plant that retains water in its leaves, or Aloe barbadensis.
