    Read chapter 9 from the book Growing Up Muslim by Sumbul Ali-Karamali (Delacorte Press 2012).

    Respond to the following on loose-leaf:

    A. In bullet points, write five strong sentences that summarize the main points of the chapter. (5 pts)
    B. In a paragraph, respond to the following questions: Should the wearing of hijab ever be banned in the United States? Why or why not? If
    you think there are situations or circumstances that call for a ban, what might those situations or circumstances be? (3 pts)
    C. What would be your thoughts on any one of the following: (2 pts)
    1. American Muslim parents telling their teenage daughter that she is not allowed to wear hijab because they think it may be
    dangerous
    2. Large clothing stores and manufacturers (such as Nike) offering “hijab” lines of clothing (some applaud this saying it promotes
    religious tolerance, while others criticize it saying it promotes the oppression of women)
    3. A “World Hijab Day” in which non-Muslim women are encouraged to wear hijab for a day, in solidarity with Muslim women who
    wear hijab
