ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students asked what the weather is like today. Review or teach the
necessary vocabulary.
LESSON DELIVERY Warm Up
1. Teacher sticks the flashcards of autumn, winter, spring,
summer on the board. Students asked questions about
each one. Teacher point to each flashcards and says the
season. Students encouraged to repeat each season.
2. Students introduced the words tree, snowman, flower and
beach and It’s snowing through the flashcards in the same
way
Vocabulary (SB page 35)
1. Students point out the words the vocabulary section
2. Teacher plays the CD a few times and students point the
words and repeat. Teacher says the words again in
random order and students repeat.
Activity 1(SB page 35)
1. Students direct attention to the pictures around the song
and asked to guess what season it is in each picture.
2. Students asked what the children are doing. Students are
going to listen to a song. Students asked to guess what it is
going to be about.
3. The song played once and students listen. The song played
a second time and students match the verses that mention
the seasons corresponding pictures. Teacher pause after
each verse to allow students enough time to match.
4. Students checks answers as a class by reading the verses
of the song and students point to the correct picture.
Grammar box (SB page 35)
1. Students draws attention t the grammar box and read the
question aloud and students explained that we use a
question when we want to know about one’s favorite
season. Students explained that we use the phrases My
favorite season and Your favorite season to express what
one’s favorite season is.
POST LESSON Teacher plays the song again and students invited to mime the
weather conditions and the actions as they sing along.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Teacher plays the song from Student’s Book, p.35 and students
sing along.
2. Students explained that in many countries in the world, the
seasons have weather as described in the song. You can also
explain that in some countries, the school year starts in September
(e.g. European countries), which is autumn. In other countries (e.g.
Japan), it starts in the spring, April. Students asked to tell you when
the school year starts in Malaysia and if they know when it starts in
any other countries. Students asked to look at the song words and
think about how it might be different for Malaysia.
3. Students divided in groups of four. Each group receive four
pieces of paper. Students asked to know the names of the seasons.
Students asked to write the name of a season on each one. Students
brainstorm vocabulary and ideas for each of the different seasons.
They write one word/phrase/idea on the paper and then pass it to
their neighbor, who writes another idea, and so on. They needn’t
focus on accuracy here, just to get their ideas. Groups present their
ideas and build a mind map on the board.
Activity 2 (SB page 35)
1. Students direct attention to the picture of Lucy and Alex
and asked what they are doing
2. Teacher plays the CD and students chorally repeat the
exchange. Students model the exchange individually.
3. Students divided into pairs. Students take turns playing
the game. Some pairs play the game in front of the class.

LESSON DELIVERY 1. Teacher writes the day and month on the board. Students asked
how well they remember the days and months in English.
2. Groups of pupils receive a set of days or months to put in order.
Teacher sets a short time limit and count down. Review the months
and days and check their answers.
Activity 1 ((SB page 36)
1. Students direct attention to the story. Students asked to
look at the first two frames and asked what season it is.
2. Students asked to tell you what they think is happening
3. Stduents asked to point to the appropriate bubbles and
follo along as teacher plays the CD.
4. Teacher plays the CD again and students encourage to
shadow read.
5. The CD played once more and pause after each phrase fro
students to repeat.
6. Students asked comprehension questions. Teacher models
acting out the dialogue with 2 students. 3 Students choose
to act it out for the class. Then students act out the
dialogue in groups of three.
7. Groups of students perform in front of the whole class.
Teacher uses the gift bag as a prop for Greg’s gift.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students asked if they can remember the story from Student’s
Book, p.36. Students asked if any pairs can remember and act it out
for the class.
LESSON DELIVERY 1. To review spelling of days of the week, students play a
team board game. The class divided into four or five
groups. One student from each group at a time should
come to the board. Student say a day of the week and the
students at the board should arrange the magnetic letters
to write the word. The fastest team to spell it accurately
wins a point. Continue for each student in the team. .
Activity 2 (SB page 37)
1. Students direct attention to the pictures and asked what is
happening. Students explained that they have to read
activity 1 again and write the day under each picture.
2. Students elicit other activities they may have during the week.
Students write these on the board. Students talk about the
activities they do.
3. Teacher give out the worksheet and students asked to write two
or more activities in My Diary. Monitor carefully and help with
vocabulary and spelling.
4. When they are ready, students work in pairs to tell each other
about their week. E.g. I have badminton on Saturday. The partner
listens and writes in My Friend’s Diary (to show this is in the 3rd
person). Students reminded to ask about spelling in English.
POST LESSON Students asked if their partner told them anything surprising about
their week, or if they found out something they didn’t already
know about their partner.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
Teacher focuses on the key vocabulary karate, computer games,
tennis, cinema.
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students asked if they often do the four activities. One or two of
them asked which day they do it on, remind them of the adverbs of
frequency to elicit sentences, e.g. I always do/have karate on
Monday; I never play computer games. Consider introducing more
adverbs if appropriate/necessary for your class, e.g. occasionally /
from time to time, often
2. Students asked to tell their partner how often and when they do
the activities.
Activity 3 (SB page 37)
1. Students direct attention to the pictures and asked to say
what each of the children are doing
2. Students tell that they are going to listen to a conversation
between a boy and a girl talking about the activites they do
on certain days of the week.
3. Students explained that they will have to match of the
activites to the days of the week. Teacher point out that
not all of the days of the week are used.
4. Teacher plays the CD once, pausing after each exchange
5. Teacher plays the CD again and students checks their
answers. Students check answers as a class.
3. Students divided in pairs; they decide who will be A and who
will be B. Teacher play the recording from Activity 3 again. On the
worksheet, students listen and complete either Sue’s Diary (Pupils
A) or Bob’s Diary (Pupils B).
4. Students exchange the information in pairs so they have a
complete worksheet. They should do this by speaking to each other
to communicate the information, but they should not look at each
other’s worksheets.
5. Teacher collects the worksheets and review students’ work. See
how well they have remembered to spell the words and how well
they have achieved the Listening task. Make notes of common
mistakes and of students’ progress.

LESSON DELIVERY 1. Each student receive a month word card. All the students with
January to raise their hand/card, then February and so on. Teacher
elicit the order of the months.
2. Students stand up and say the months on their cards in order,
without modelling.
Activity 4 (SB page 37)
1. Students put the months of the year in order by filling in
the numbers 2-12. Students check their answers in pairs
first, then check as a class.
3. Students showed the present and asked when we give presents.
Teacher elicit birthday.
4. Students put the month cards around the room. Students asked
to find the month of their birthday and go and stand by it. Students
asked by month When’s your birthday? Students reply It’s in x.
5. Students reminded which month it is. Students receive present
whose birthday it is this month and say Happy birthday!
6. Students mingle (walk around the room) to ask each other when
their birthday is. Set a time limit or a number of students to ask.
Activity 5 (SB page 37)
1. Students directs attention to the picture of Alex and Sue
and asked to guess what Alex and Sue are doing.
2. Teacher plays the CD and students repeat the exchange
chorally. Students models the exchange. Students divided
into groups of four and they do the activity.
3. Students asked the members in their group when their
birthdays are, and complete the table with their names
and the months their birthdays are in
4. When all the groups are finished, a member from each
group asked to share the students’ birthdays with the rest
of the class.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
LESSON DELIVERY 1. teacher put the world map on the board/wall and students
asked to gather around it. Students asked to show various
countries, first Malaysia, then Singapore and Thailand. Talk about
major world countries and include Australia and Canada, students
asked to show you where they are, if they can.
2. Students introduced and practise the vocabulary using the
flashcards. Using the map, students asked in which countries they
might find these things.
Vocabulary
1. Students open their books to page 38. Students directs
attention to the vocabulary section at the top of the page.
Teacher plays the CD a few times and students point t the
words and repeat. Teacher says the words again in
random order and students repeat and point.
3.Students show the pictures on Student’s Book, p.38. Students
asked which country they think each is. Students will read about
the three countries. They will work in teams of four to read
together. Students assign roles – three of the students are runners,
they will read about one of the countries each; the fourth student is
the manager. The manager stays at the desk with the worksheet.
The manager reads the sentences about the countries to the
relevant team member, who runs to their text on the wall to find
out if it is true or false. They return to the manager and tell them.
The runners should not see the worksheet and the manager should
not see the texts. They can ask each other to repeat or explain
orally.
4. One group model it in front of the class, making sure they
understand the rules. Check the answers as a whole class.
Activity 2 ( SB page 39)
1. Students read activity 1 and match the different parts of
the sentences. Students checks their answers in pairs first,
then check as a class.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Teacher elicits and use flashcards to introduce vocabulary
related to weather, seasons, common activities and clothes related
to Malaysia and/or your own local area.
2. Students asked questions and talk about these aspects of their
own country.
3. Students asked to work in groups. Students showed some
pictures from Malaysia. They will make posters about Malaysia.
First students work together to write three or four sentences about
Malaysia on a piece of paper or in a notebook. They can use the
texts on Student’s Book, p.38 as models.
4. In groups, students make their posters so that they match the
sentences they have written with the pictures. Then they add the
sentences to their posters. While they are working in their groups,
monitor and check on progress. Teacher check their sentences and
work with each group to help them improve the sentences by
asking questions and eliciting language so that they can write it in
the final version on the poster.

1. Students look at the board game. Students divided into
pairs. Teacher hands out a coin and two construction
paper game pieces to each pair.
2. Teacher models how the game is played. A student tosses
the coin to see how many spaces to move forward: one
space for heads and 2 spaces for tails.
3. The student who game piece lands on a space answers the
question written in the space. If s/he answers correctly,
s/he stays on the space. If his/her answer is wrong, s/he
moves back one square.
4. If one of the student’s lands on the space with the green
words Go back and a number written on it, then that
student has to go back to the space of the specific number.
5. Teacher points out that the pictures on some of the spaces
help students find the answers to the questions.
6. Students take turns tossing the coin and playing. The
students to reach the end of the game first is the winner.
Optional- What clothes do you wear?
1. Teacher draws a Venn diagram on the board. Teacher
labels the circles ‘summer’ and winter’. Students asked to
copy it in their notebooks. Students should write the
clothes they wear in the summer in the circle on the left
and clothes they wear in winter in the circle on the right.
In the space where the two circles overlap, students
should write the clothes they wear in both seasons.
