FLEXIBILITY EXERCISES
INTRODUCTION

Welcome Kid in this wonderful and enjoyable experience of


learning in MAPEH. This module specifically discusses lessons in
Physical Education.

2. identify the benefits of stretching exercises;
3. know the steps in doing flexibility test “Sit and Reach”;
4. observe safety precautions; and

In this lesson, you will learn about “Upper and Lower Body
Flexibility Exercises” through the learning activities provided for
you. The collection of the completed activities in this lesson will be
submitted at the end of the allotted period.

The following pictures above are examples of stretching


exercises.

Flexibility is one of the indicators in Health-related fitness


component. Flexibility is the capacity to move your joints and
muscle in a wide range of motion. To be flexible means that you
can move a joint in a full range of motion without hurting yourself.
Having a good flexibility helps you in preventing injuries and can
improve your performance in different sports.

What are the safety precautions That you should know in


stretching and what benefits can you get from stretching
exercises?

To reduce the risk of injuries, it is important that you do


stretching exercises before and after doing any physical activities
like dancing. Stretching exercises can help you develop flexibility
skills. Improving your flexibility will keep you become more active,
physically fit, and healthy. It also improves your posture that helps
you make a beautiful performance in dancing and in sports.

Remember that:

1. Flexibility and stretching help you in preventing injuries


and can improve your performance.
2. It is important that you do stretching exercises before and
after doing any physical activity.

Directions: Arrange the procedure in doing flexibility test “Sit
and Reach”. Write numbers 1,2,3, and 4 on the space
provided before each number.

1. You will slowly bend and hold your position until the
record has been made, then you will slowly go back
to the starting position.
2. Your head and entire back must be against the wall
and your arms should be straightened. Put your one
hand on top of the other hand.
3. Before doing the test, do warm-up exercises followed
by stretching acgtivities. You should sit on the floor
with your back, shoulders, and head against the wall.
With your legs extended in front, knees should be
straight and your heels should be 1 foot apart. Then
overlap your hands to reach the farthest point to be
recorded.
4. Your fingertips should be touching the floor. The
measuring instrument (foot rule/carpenter’s ruler) is
placed from this point to specify point zero. Your heels
should be 12 inches apart.

Directions: List at least three (3) benefits you can get from
stretching.

Performance Test. This should be submitted at the end of the


cluster.

Directions: With the guidance of your parents or guardian. Follow


the streching exercises provided in our google classroom. You can
wear your PE uniform, t-shirt and pajamas, or any available
physical fitness outfit you are comfortable with. Remember that
we have different levels of flexibility. If you feel pain or any
discomfort while performing the stretching, you can stop and rest
for a while.
