I. Objectives

After the 50-minute discussion about “Identifying Compound Words”,


85% of Grade 4 pupils will be able to do the following with 85% level of
success.

a. to identify and dissect compound words.

b. to appreciate the importance of compound words in our lives.

c. to demonstrate the formation of compound words.

d. to create their own compound words.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Identifying Compound Words

References: English 4 K to 12, Curriculum Guide in English 4 pp. 94 of


247, K to 12 Teachers Guide pp. 73, Learners’ Manual pp. 63-64.

Materials: Printed materials, board and chalk.

Before we start, may I request everyone to


stand, bow your head and feel the
presence of the Lord.

B. Review
Before we proceed with our topic for today,
let’s have a recall first.

Can you tell me about our topic last


meeting? Our topic last meeting is all about affixes.

And what are the two types of affixes? Prefix and suffix

Can you differentiate them? Prefixes are group of letters that are added
in the beginning of the root word while
suffixes are group of letters that are added
at the end of the root word.

C. Motivation
Now, before we proceed, let’s read first the
short poem I prepare. I will read it first.
Then, you will read with me for the second
time around, and you will read alone for
the third time. Understood? Yes Ma’am.

one.
