 All YES-O student officers and teacher-advisers

Objectives:
 To promote environment protection among DepEd stakeholders;
 To rally more learners and personnel to be engaged in environment actions; and
 To provide a platform for learners to showcase their commitment to earth
restoration.

VIRTUAL CELEBRATION SUMMARY

1. OPENING REMARKS

 The first day of Earth Day 2021 virtual interactive celebration started with
commitment video messages from different school heads, directors, partners,
foundation heads, and students.
 It was followed with the National Anthem and prayer done by students from
different schools.
 After that, the OIC Director of Bureau of Learners Support Services, Mr. Lope D.
Santos III explained the above-stated objectives of the Earth Day 2021 followed
by a congratulatory message from Curriculum Undersecretary Diosdado M. San
Antonio.

2. ACTIVITY
I. STORYTELLING FOR ELEMENTARY LEARNERS
 This is the first activity during the celebration. Miss Philippine Earth – Air
2020 Patrixia Santos narrated the story entitled “Is this my home?” which
is written by Yeji Yun and illustrated by Sean Henrik Moore.
 This story about the journey of a girl finding her home opened the eye of
the viewers about how everyone should love our only one home which is
Earth.

3. RELAXATION

 After a long time being exposed to gadget screen, the program allowed the
participants to have a 10-minute relaxation period where they can close their
eyes while listening to two winning songs from Kantakalikasan Song Writing
Competition.
 The audience listened respectively to the song ‘Together You and Me’ written
and performed by Prince Adriel Pajaron and ‘Kapag Ligtas Ka’ written and
performed by Czarina Angeline Antonio.

4. ACTIVITY
II. SUSTANABLE DINING
 The last activity for morning session was about Makakalikasang Hapag-
kainan where the Project Manager of The Sustainable Dining Project from
WWF-Ph, Ms. Melody Melo-Rijk discussed the significance and effects of
having a sustainable diner.
 The summary of her discussion:
 Efficient use of resources such as energy and water.
 Reduction of food waste.
 Promotion of plant-based/lesser meat consumption.
 Reduction of single-use plastics.
 Promotion of local and sustainable sourcing.
 The Makakalikasan Creative Activity was also dicussed, where selected
participants may be awarded with prices by posting TikTok videos about
sustainable dining.

5. CLOSING REMARKS

 The morning session was ended with a short message from Mr. Raymundo M.
Cantonjos, ASDS/OIC – City Schools Division of Dasmarinas.
