ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT
Accomplishment Report
August 8, 2022
To advance the global climate talks, mobilize action, and provide a
significant opportunity to look at the impacts of climate change in Baguio, the
1st environmental summit was implemented at Baguio Convention Center on
August 8, 2022 1:30 – 5:00 PM with a theme: leapfrogging Towards Livable
Communities.

There were six supreme student of government ( SSG ) namely vice


president Christian Angluben, secretary Jean Kate Uden, auditor Edralyn
Owayet, P.I.O Leah Legaspi, P.O Shane Gad-oan, grade 8 representative
Raickel Lorenzo, and science president Whalan Agwasil of Sto. Tomas National
High School ( STNHS ) joined in the environmental summit. The other
participants are the student leaders with their adviser from the different
schools of Baguio City.

The program started with preliminaries including the invocation by Mr.


Brenson L. Bengwayan the city planning and development office followed by
singing of Pilipinas Kong Mahal, Cordillera Hymn, and Baguio Hymn and
acknowledgement of participants by Mr. Frederick Gabriel P. Exibia, MecE and
he’s also the master of ceremony during the program. The city mayor of Baguio
City Benjamin B. Magalong introduced the agenda of the program. In
presenting the different topics such as urban audit presented by Ar. Donna G.
Rillera-Tabangin, EnP, local climate change action plan by Atty. Rhenan G.
Diwas, Baguio City’s urban carrying capacity by Ms. Gladys M. Navarro, PhD,
and Baguio tourism carrying capacity by Ms. Helen A. Maddumba the center
head from watershed and water resources research and development and
extension center. After the 10 minutes health break there were two student
leaders presented their different activities related in environmental awareness.
The activity was ended by a short workshop and sharing their insights and
thoughts about environmental awareness.
At the end of the activity the city environment and parks management
office was successfully implemented the program as it enabled the student
leaders and other participants to be aware in our environment situation.
