Instruction: Read the Story of the Wemmicks and write a summary of the Story of the

Wemmicks? (Include all the characters and their role in the life of Punichello) with a minimum
of 5 sentences each. (20 points).

Summary: This story is about a group of small wooden people called the Wemmicks. The
Wemmicks were made of wood and were carved by Eli, who overlooked their village. The
Wemmicks judge each other with stickers – gray dots and stars. Gray dots were especially put on
one of the Wemmicks whose name was Punchinello. These labels eventually hurt Punchinello to
his core but then he met Lulia. She is a stickerless Wemmick it’s not that people don’t give her
stickers it’s just that the stickers don’t stick. Punchinello liked the idea of the stickers not sticking
to him and so he asked Lulia what she did and then she convinced Punchinello to go to Eli to talk
about everything. When he was talking to Eli, Punchinello realized that what others think doesn’t

m
matter because he is wonderfully made by the craftsman.

a. Who are these characters in my real-life situation? (Each of them)

Lulia- In a real-life situation, Lulia is my mother. It is because she is the one who introduced me
is

to the beauty of life. Like Lulia, my mother taught me about accepting myself and that God loves
us and sees us as nothing less beautiful. She led me to God and helped me in loving my
Th

imperfections.
sh

Eli – All of us are like the wemmicks, we judge and we are judged. The creator, Eli is God in a
real-life situation. Every one of us are made with utmost perfection. We are all special despite
our flaws. God made each and one of us as His unique masterpieces. All of us should be thankful
of what God has given us and we should not worry about what others think of us the important
thing is God loves us no matter what and accepts us as who we are.

b. How do I relate myself in the situation of Punichello? (Personal reflection)
Punchinello’s situation is not far from mine. Like him, I am also affected of what others think of
me. I often get discouraged to do things that I like because I am afraid of people’s judgments. I
have a low self-esteem and sometimes I conceal myself from the world because I feel like I don’t
fit in and I don’t surpass people’s standards. However, with the help of my family and friends, I
am slowly learning to accept my imperfections. With my faith in God, I am gradually
understanding that what others think of me should not affect me because I am fearfully and
wonderfully made my God.
