Roller Coaster

The movement of a roller coaster is accomplished by the

conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy.
The roller coaster cars gain potential energy as they are
pulled to the top of the first hill.
As the cars descend, the potential energy is converted to
kinetic energy.
When the cars rushing up hills, the energy is converted to
potential energy, while zooming down the other side the
energy is converted back to kinetic energy
Loss of energy due to friction and air resistance must also be considered.
Analysis of coaster motion can be made easier if we ignore friction
Real coaster design all relevant forces must to create a safe and exciting ride
The energy loss during each energy conversion means that each successive
hill must be lower than the last.
It supplies kinetic energy to the coaster cars.
Rather than pulling the cars up a steep hill, the cars using the repulsive forces
created by a set of electromagnets as a source of energy.
The potential energy from the magnetic system is transferred and transformed
into the kinetic energy of the coaster cars.
Darts System
The energy of the dart system is initially present in the
form of the elastic potential energy and gravitational
potential energy

The springs of the dart gun are The dart is initially elevated at a
compressed which accounts for the height of 1-meter above the ground
elastic potential energy which accounts for the gravitational
The dart does have a large amount of potential energy
kinetic energy since it is now moving Once projected, the dart no longer
at a high speed as it leaves the dart has elastic potential energy since the
springs of the dart are no longer
compressed
The dart does have a large amount of kinetic energy
since it is now moving at a high speed as it leaves the
dart
The dart has gravitational potential energy since it is
still elevated to some height above the ground
As the dart ascends towards its peak, it is
continuously slowing down under the influence of
the downward force of gravity
During this ascent, there is a transformation of the
mechanical energy from the form of kinetic energy to
gravitational potential energy
At the peak, there is only a small amount of kinetic
energy and a large amount of gravitational potential
energy
Finally, as the dart descends to the ground, the force
of gravity speeds it up
As it falls, there is an increase in kinetic energy and a
decrease in gravitational potential energy.
DARTS SYSTEM
Mechanical energy is transformed from one form to another while the total amount of the two
forms remains unchanged.
The dart being launched from the spring gun, the only forces doing work upon the dart are internal
forces.
The dart is being acted upon by a spring force in order to be projected from the dart gun.
The coils of the springs are initially compressed and upon pulling the trigger, the springs return to
their equilibrium position while pushing the dart out of the dart gun.
The only force doing work upon the dart during its flight through the air is gravity.
The total mechanical energy of the dart is conserved because both the spring force and the force of
gravity are internal forces.
