Instruction: Compose a narrative essay about the given topic with a maximum words of 200.

Question: What do you think is the major influence of the four major literary periods to the 21st century
literature?

There are 4 major literary periods in the 21st century: the Pre-colonial Period, Spanish Colonial Era, American
Colonial Era and lastly the Contemporary Period. There are also the major influences of this in the literary periods
of 21st Century literature. Pre-colonial is the first literature in the Philippines. In the present circumstances there
are things that became popular like, folks songs, epics and the narratives. The Philippines epics in distinction to the
pre-colonial era told mythological stories, and some often reflected on community ethics. The following is the
Spanish Colonial Era, during that time the Spanish attempted to enlighten their own language to the indigineuos
people that signifies the religious songs and the poetry that is found in their own religion. Second from the last is
the American Colonial Era, during that time the English were launched to the conventional school. During this time
the Philippines literature had the biggest impact on some American literature. Last but not the least is the
Contemporary Period. In the present circumstances some things pop up like poetry, short stories have become
popular. There were events held every year such as the literary awards.
