Question: What do you think is the major influence of the four major literary periods to the 21st century
literature?

Literature is a collection of written works is referred to as literature. The term has long been used to describe
visionary works of poetry and prose that are characterized by the writers' aims as well as the perceived aesthetic brilliance of
their execution. Language, national origin, historical time, genre, and topic matter are some of the ways used to categorize
literature. The word literature is frequently defined in a cyclical manner. Literature, according to the 11th edition of
Merriam-Collegiate Webster's Dictionary, is "writings of quality of form or expression and articulating ideas of permanent or
universal significance." Literature is a term that refers to a group of literary works. The word has long been applied to
visionary works of poetry and prose that are defined by the authors' intentions as well as the perceived artistic brilliance of
their execution. Literature is classified in a variety of ways, including language, national origin, historical period, genre, and
topic matter.

Philippine literature is a broad and rich collection of works that have grown alongside the country's history. Long
before the introduction of Spanish influence, literature began with tales and stories created by ancient Filipinos. Philippine
literature is primarily concerned with the country's pre-colonial cultural traditions as well as the socio-political histories of its
colonial and current traditions. It is no secret that many Filipinos are unaware with most of the country's literary legacy,
particularly works published before the arrival of the Spaniards. This is owing to the fact that ancient legends were not
written down and were instead passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth. Because of the Spaniards'
influence, the early Filipinos only got familiar with literature around 1521. However, the literature that the Filipinos grew
acquainted with was not written in the Philippines; rather, it was written by Spanish authors.

Colonists were so effective in erasing the memory of the country's primarily oral history that today's Filipino
authors, artists, and journalists are attempting to remedy this imbalance by acknowledging the country's wealth of ethnic
traditions and spreading them through mass media in schools. The growth of patriotic pride in the 1960s and 1970s also
contributed to this shift in mindset among a new generation of Filipinos concerned about their "identity." Spanish, English,
Tagalog, and/or other native Philippine languages are used in Philippine literature. Why should we learn about Philippine
literature? It is always critical to study your country's literature, regardless of nationality. You are not only learning about
your nation's history, but you are also preserving your ancestors' views, beliefs, and cultural differences that set your country
apart from others. Literature from a country can also provide information about its culture that is not based on facts.
