Background:

By virtue of Republic Act 10360 enacted on July 23, 2013, Davao Occidental became the newest province in the
country, comprising five of the eight municipalities that constitute the 2nd district of Davao del Sur. The motive
behind the creation of the province was to boost the economic condition and social progress of the municipalities.
Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who sponsored the creation of Davao Occidental, said that the distances of Digos
City, Davao del Sur's provincial capital, to other municipalities in the second Congressional District are far-off that
impairs the effective delivery of basic services, as well as the access to government offices.

One of the current challenges for the newly created province is the access for effective medical services. Basing
on this requirement, DOH together with the provincial government decided to build a provincial hospital which
will be located in the Municipality of Malita. The municipality has the biggest number of population and has the
most progressive status among other municipalities that comprises the province.

Site: A 100M by 150M lot along Rizal Street of Malita Municipal, bounded on the North-east by a commercial
establishment (see map)
