6. Project Description

A. Rationale

Naujan is a big municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro. It has 70

barangays and has a big lot among the other municipalities. There are also a lot of
stray dogs on every road that is affecting the environment. This type of issue was
noticed by few people in the city of Naujan.

The purpose of this research is to tell the people in Barcenaga, Naujan about
the problems that a stray dogs can do, as well a project that will help solve this problem

What's more, some people don't even care about it. Even their own dogs are
not being leashed, which causes many accidents. Our community will only be better if
we take care of our environment.

The concern is that stray dogs cause a lot of problems if they are just wandering
around the road.

As a result of this discussion, Group 6 decided to create a proposal called

Project BAG which means "Bawal ang Asong Gala". We will provide shelter, food,

3
medicine and anything for all of the stray dogs that we can get and hopefully some
people can take it and make them as their pet.

As a result, the completion of this project will reflect in Divine Word College of
Calapan, assisting people for any help and to gain more ideas about what pros and
cons that stray dogs can give. A modest action leads to larger action.

Almost all routes in Barcenaga have a stray dog even in the highway so it's
better to create a project that will help to get Barcenaga to become a better place to
live in.

B. Objectives

Specifically, this project aims:

1. To protect the animals from any accidents or any abuses that they may
encounter outside their comfort zone.

2. To ensure the safety of people whenever they may encounter stray dogs.

3. To raise awareness on the issue regarding those stray dogs, the government is
taking action.

4. To promote welfare of the animals.

5. To look for possible family who are willing and capable of adopting stray dogs

C. Expected Output

The following are the key outputs of the project launching:

1. The project will lessen animal abuse.

2. Reduce accidents caused by stray dogs.

3. There will be a significant reduction in the number of stray dogs.

4. The stray dog law and regulation will be established and enacted.

D. Components and Activities

The DWCC Sci-Tech (Group VI) is proposing a six-month period of operation

at which animal awareness could be established.

A. Within this period, it is assumed that we would be able to build shelters

to accommodate the dogs rescued in order to initially start the

4
vaccination and rehabilitation process. It is hoped that in the long run,
this project could eventually earn partially its upkeep.

B. With the advocacy portion, we hope that the project could arouse so
much interest as to be able to generate additional funds from
governments and private sectors who share the same vision with us.

G. Project Benefits/Impact

• Rabies Awareness

• Social Cooperation

• Animal Welfare

Stray dogs or pets which may have been abandoned by their owners which live
in the streets are just lost souls that need a home. Based on what we’ve experienced,
there are many stray dogs in Barcenaga in which agencies or organizations are needed
to solve this problem.

7
This proposed project will be the first step towards the improvement of Barcenaga
with regards to the stray dog problems. It will also promote the formation of agencies
which will also help to reduce the number of stray dogs on the streets. With this, rabies
cases will not only lessen but also it will promote rabies awareness.

The initiation of this proposed project will give us deeper knowledge on how to tackle
this problem. Thus, provide us a thorough outlook on the projected objectives on hand.
