STUDENT ESSAY FORM (StEF)
Effective Date:
The three SDG discussed in week-2 are essential to each individual. The first two SDGs aims to
eliminate something that could help an individual in living their everyday lives, the third SDG aims to
promote the well-being of an individual. The three SDGs are No Poverty, Zero Hunger and Good Health,
and Well-Being and I could say that these three have similar goals. If I were to choose one SDG to share
my thoughts, it would be on No Poverty.
Poverty is one of the most obvious and serious problems that most people tend to ignore. As I
have mentioned, the first three SDGs are connected, but I think that solving Poverty would eventually
solve the other 2 SDG. With poverty, people can’t afford daily necessities, therefore they can’t afford to
buy food to fill their tummies. Thus, poverty affects their Good health and their well-being. According to a
source, the poverty rate in the Philippines is 21.60%. This means that 21.60% of the people in the
Philippines can’t afford to buy their daily necessities or to even eat at least 3 times a day. Meaning they
can’t afford to buy foods that will prevent them from being hungry and that will help them maintain their
good health and well-being.
Contributing to lessen the percentage of poverty is quite simple but difficult to maintain. 1st is to
have a donation drive for the less privileged, second is granting them opportunities that could help them
prevent from going back to poverty and last but not the least is the government providing temporary
homes for them. As a student, there are two things that I can do to contribute to lessen poverty. First is to
donate and second is to study well and create opportunities for those of the less privilege.
