I. ACTIVITY INFORMATION:

TITLE OF ACTIVITY : SUMMER READING & ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

TARGET BENEFICIARY: Grade 3- 6 Non-Readers and Frustrated Reading Levels

of KCES learners.
DATE OF IMPLEMENTATION: April 22 – May 10, 2019

II. RATIONALE:

Kawas Central Elementary School is one of the schools in Sarangani that promotes quality
education. This is the reason why we participates and actively implement the summer reading
and enhancement program of Department of Education.This program will help non readers to
read and to love reading.This will also enables frustration readers to comprehend what they
read and help learners to keep reading and improved their language skills.

There are hundreds of good reason why our learners need to learn to read. Learning to read
will improves understanding and vocabulary,it will boosts imagination, and enhances
communications and speakings skills.This will be their key to help them understand the things
that sorrounds them and will surely brighten up their future.

Reading is fun and will help us learn new things. We, in Kawas Central Elementary School will
promote summer reading in a different way. We will shape our Reading Program in a fun way
with lots of activities wherein learners will be excited to attend reading classes from April 22 to
May 10, 2019. We will have “READING EVERYDAY” activity that will fucos on CREATES, TEACHES,
STRENGTHENS,OPENDOORS,BUILDS,ALLOWS,GIVES,TAKES, and HELPS.

CREATES a lifelong readers.

TEACHES learners to read,find adventures,ideas and answers through reading.
STRENGHTENS relationship and memories from their summer reading experience.
OPEN DOORS through which learners can learns about themselves.
BUILDS a diverse vocabulary and fluency in reading.
ALLOWS a learner’s imagination and creativity to blossom.
GIVES learners the tool to become a good reader.
TAKES the fear out of reading in the clasroom.
HELPS learner’s makes connection through reading.

Summer Reading and Enhancement Program of Kawas Central Elementary School will not only
make every learner a reader but will also make sure that all learners attended the summer reading
program will be a “next grade level ready”. They can compete and be proud that they came from, shaped
and motivated by our school.

III. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this Summer Reading and Enhancement Program, the learners are expected to:

1. Slowly wipe out non-readers.

2. Frustration readers can comprehend.
3. To help learners continue to improve and develop skills in reading.
 4. Improve the learners’ reading readiness for incoming school year
5. Value the importance of reading through habitual practice
6. To make the summer reading meaningful and relevant to each grade level
curriculum.

IV. DESCRIPTION:

I. Nature of Activity
This activity will enhance and aid the students at-risk, eradicate non-readers, and
polish students’ skills in reading.

II. Resource Management

Provide interactive learning activities and instructional materials appropriate to

learners’ level.
Monitor daily attendance and performance.

III. ActivityVenue/Location

Summer Reading and Enhancement Program will be at Kawas Central Elementary

School on April 22 to May 10, 2019.
