Twenty-five-year-old Nor Izzatul
Fazlia Mohamad Tahir is one MSU
alumna who showcases much
courage and dedication in her
passions and accomplishing great
achievements.
She began her undergraduate
study with a Diploma in
Management at MSU College
Terengganu. Upon graduating in
2017, she moved to MSU’s main
campus at the heart of Shah Alam
to continue her bachelor’s degree
in Education (Health and Physical

Fazlia is a recipient of the MSU
Outstanding Reward Scholarship
for her degree. With the aim of
becoming a sports teacher in the
future, Fazlia is active in the sport
of judo, while juggling between
being a constable at the Bahagian
Pusat Kawalan DCC in IPD Petaling
Jaya and her studies.
“One of the most intriguing
experiences at the IPD was when I
had to run out in the middle of a
recruitment training to MSU for
one of my final exams. I have to
always be vigilant with time
management, however, I am
enjoying what I am doing,” she
says.
Fazlia is thankful for the
relentless support she gets from
her family, friends, and
academicians at MSU.
“I can only do all these with the
help of my circle of friends and
lecturers. They are always
supportive of my sports endeavour
and education. They continue
helping me to excel and are quick
to motivate me whenever I feel like
I am lagging behind in my studies.
I hope to be more focused and
committed in my studies and make

+78kg category,” says Fazlia.
Among her notable
achievements in judo includes
multiple gold medals in the
National Youth Judo Tournaments
(2010-2015), National Judo
Tournaments (2010-2019) as well
as SUKMA (2010, 2011, 2012 and
2016). She has also performed
remarkably at the international
level, bagging bronze medals in
various editions of the SEA Games.
“I have faced several injuries
while training and in competitions.
I have dislocated my elbow; broke

my humerus and nose bone; had
five sutures on my eyebrow, and
now living with knee pain.
However, I will continue to
participate in Judo for the love of
sports. None of these will waver
me away from my love for Judo,”
she says.
Life might never be a bed of
roses but perseverance, purpose
and passion for life will bring us
far. Fazlia’s love for sports despite
her many challenges shows that
hard work will surely pay off.
“Start young and keep going in
what you are passionate about,”
she advises.
