V. Solve each Problem

1. Mang Berto sold 14.25 kg of guavas at P 25 per kilogram . How much was his
total sales ?

Solution:

Given:
14.25 kg – total kg of guavas sold
Php 25.00/kg – cost of 1 guava

To find the total sales, we must multiply 25 to 14.25. Why? Simply because a guava is 25 pesos per
kilogram therefore we must multiply it to the total kilogram sold to find the total sales.

So, 14.25 x 25 = 356.25. Therefore, the total sales is equal to ₱365.25.

2. Your sister wants ¿ buy a bag for your mother as a gift . She already saved P 212.50
during summer . If the bag is worth P 650.75 , how much more does she need ¿ save ?

Solution:

Given:
₱212.50 - initial saving last summer
₱650.75 – price of the bag

To find the answer to this problem, we must subtract the price of the bag to the initial saving of my
sister.

650.75 – 212.50 = 438.25

Therefore, my sister still needs ₱438.244 or ₱438.24 to buy the bag.

3.Jepong saved P 135.25∈ April∧182.50∈May . Hebought a toy for P 150.75 . How much
of his savings was¿

Solution:

Given:
₱135.25 – savings in April.
₱182.50 – savings in May.
₱150.75 – price of the toy Jepong bought.

So to find the answer to this problem, we must first add Jepong’s savings in April and May. The sum
will then be subtracted to the toy he bought.

135.25 + 182.50 = 317.75

317.75 – 150.75 = 167

Therefore, there is still ₱167.00 in Jepong’s savings.

4. You want ¿ buy 3 pencils .You saw a certain pencil that costs P 5.75 .You also saw a pack of
3 pencils that costs of P 15.50 . How much will be your savingsif you buy the pack of 3 pencils
instead of 3 pencils that cost P 5.75 each ?

Solution:
To find the saving multiply first 5.75 by 3 and subtract ut to 15.50.

5.75 x 3 = 17.25
17.25 – 15.50 = 2.05

Therefore, your allowance will be ₱2.05.
