Remember
People in the Philippines should learn to use things over and over instead of simply
throwing them away.
Plastics in disposable items remain in the environment for many years after the items have
been thrown away.
Filipinos throw out 2 to 3 kilos of items per day; this is more than half a ton of garbage
per person each year.
Each year 1 million dogs and cats are put to sleep in humane societies.
Filipinos spend about 100 million pesos each year on disposable plastic and paper plates.
Filipinos spend nearly 29 million pesos each year on disposable diapers.
Other disposable items, such as pens, lighters, and razors, cost another 18 million pesos.
This fairly throw-away attitude or culturehas become the worst problemof our
time.
