I. Objectives:

• To determine how computer become a tool for learning and as a

tutor.

• To integrate their knowledge about computer in their daily

lesson activities and the importance of computer in their

learning.

• To design a computer application the can, help on their studies

and solve learning conflicts.

II. Content:

Computer as a Tutor

III. Learning Resources:

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, Pictures, Video Presentation

IV. Procedures

a. Before the Lesson

i. Greetings:

The teacher will greet the student a great day and will

check the attendance.


ii. Review:

The teacher will review the student of their previous

lesson before proceeding to the next lesson.

iii. Drill:

The class will play the game “Bring me what?”. It is a

game where the teacher will give the description of an

object to the class but the teacher will not tell what kind

of object it is. The student who will be able to bring the

described object will get an equivalent point.

iv. During the Lesson

a. Discussion

The teacher will discuss about computer

as a tutor. The teacher will ask the class if who

is better tutor, a computer or a teacher? The

class will give their own insight about the

question. After then, the teacher will discuss that

a computer can be a tutor and it is called

Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) but

computer cannot be a tutor alone, the learning

of the student will be effective with the

collaboration of the teacher and the computer.

b. Activity
• The student will play the role of an

application developer for computers.

Their task is to think an application that

can help student to study effectively.

• The teacher will ask student what kind of

application they want to develop and how

it works.

• The teacher will ask the student how will

this application help a student in learning.

V. Assignment:

Answer the following question.

1. What do you think will happen if computer is not

invented?

2. If computer is not invented, what will you invent to be

able to help the students in their learning?

VI. Remarks:

The teacher will look if all the students understand the lesson about the

computer as a tutor.

VII. Reflections:

Teacher must engage to the computer that explaining the student the

good purpose of the computer not for playing or as part of their daily
activities which is play games. We all know that computer can play the

role of tutor in nearly any classroom. Teachers have only so much time

on their hands, and even the most student-oriented teachers can leave

children behind. One way to close this gap is to use the computer as a

tutor. Many lessons, instructions and problem-solving materials are

available on the web. One concern with computers is that they can

reduce learning demands on students.

With access to the web comes millions of pieces of information, many of

which contain answers to common problems from school. Students can

use computers to do less work or even to cheat. The computer can be

a tutor in effect relieving the teacher of many activities in his personal

role as classroom tutor. It should be made clear, however, that the

computer cannot totally replace the teacher since the teacher shall

continue to play the major roles of information deliverer and learning

environment controller.
