Sugar Water --Deanna stirred a teaspoon of sugar into a glass of

warm water. The sugar completely dissolved in the water.

Put an X next to the statements that are true about the dissolved sugar.

____ A The sugar melts.

____ B The sugar chemically combines with the water to form a new
substance.
____ C The sugar breaks down into the individual atoms that make up sugar.
__X__ D The sugar forms a mixture with the water.
__X__ E The sugar can be separated from the water.
____ F The sugar turns into water molecules.
__X__ G The sugar molecules are spread among the water molecules.
____ H The sugar disappears and no longer exists.
____ I The sugar loses mass.

Explain your thinking. Describe what happens to sugar when it dissolves in water.

Ans: In this experiment we are witnessing dissolving, mixture and physical change (appearance). Sugar's grain
is known huge collection of sugar atoms. When the grains of sugar are added in the water, they dissolve—which
makes a mixture which is known as a solution. A solution is made because water is known as a polar molecule,
in which different atoms are bonded to a molecule. One part of the atom contains a slight positive charge and
the other part contains a slight negative charge. Inverse charges draw in.
