Essay 1: Nowadays, the way many people interact with each other has changed
because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of
relationships that people make? Has this been a positive or negative
development?
It is true that the development of technology has revolutionized the way people
communicate. In my opinion, technology has affected interpersonal relationships in
various ways and this have both positive and negatives effects.
Technology has had revolutionary impacts on relationships because, regardless of
geographical distances, it allows instant communication in every area including
business, education and social life. In business, for example, the Internet enables
people from different regions to meet and directly interact, discuss and negotiate to
make final decisions. Another example is in the way people use social media, like
Facebook or Twitter to keep in contact with their acquaintances. They can also widen
their social circles by joining groups of people who share common interests.
In my opinion, the influence of technological advance on interpersonal
relationship brings both benefits and drawbacks. On the one hand, technological
developments can help maintain and widen relationships. In the past, people who lived
far away from each other could not keep in touch and their relationships tended to be
faded. That is to say, without technologies in telecommunication, relationships would
be hard to be maintained or even might come to an end. On the other hand, the
availability of Internet-based means of communication can result in social isolation as
well as discourage face-to-face interaction. In fact, many young people prefer making
friends online rather than having a real-life relationship. Such “virtual” relationships
are a poor substitute for real friendships as it is always difficult to understand a person
just through the Internet.
In conclusion, the development of technology has changed the way people interact
with others in every aspect of human life. It certainly benefits social relationships in
various ways but not all of the outcomes have been positive.

Essay 2: A lot of people have become dependent on technology as it plays a big

role in our daily lives. Do you agree that living in computer age has more
advantages than disadvantages?
