Description
- A structural glazing system that provides a flush glass
surface, by utilizing stainless steel fittings housed in
countersunk holes to fix the glass façade back to the
structure, instead of using the more conventional framed
systems.
- The exterior glass used in all Pilkington Planar™
systems is normally 10, 12, 15 or 19 mm thick Pilkington
optifloat™ heat soaked toughened glass.

combined with functionalloadingshallbecheckedforeverymemberoftheframeworkconsisting of
beams,columnsandshearwall.
3.6.3AnyOtherLoading
Otherloadsexhibitedincludelateralloadconsistingoftheearthpressuretotheframedretainingwallcomm
encingfromtheNaturalgroundtothesecondbasementlevel,whichisassumedto be the pressure
ofwhichisdistributedlinearlyassumingpeak at the bottom.The
pressureistobecomputedinaccordancewiththeprovisionofEBCS-7,2013usingeither
RankinsorCoulombsdistributioncoefficient.

3.7Sub-structure–FoundationTypeandPreliminaryDimensions

Thefoundationinthepreliminarydesignisestablishedusingthehistoryofthebuildingsin the
neighborhoodofthe Tele Building site. Accordingly, the site possess a subsoil of
weatheredrockat a depth not more than 6 m from the naturalgroundlevel,
detailsofwhichtobeconsideredafterthesoilandthegeotechnicalinvestigationistobecarriedout.Asperthei
nvestigationreportandsitefindings,thefinaldesignerisexpectedtoexamintheinformation from the
groundinvestigationanddecideson the type
offoundationtobeusedinthefinaldesign.Inthisregard,thedesignerisexpectedtoconsiderespeciallyanye
xistingoffuturestructureadjacenttotheperimeterofthebuildingstructuresthatmayinfluencenotonlytheloc
ationofthefoundationbutalsoanypossibleeffectonthesuperstructureand adjacent buildings.
Asinthepreliminarydesign,thefollowinghasbeenselected, subject
tomodificationinthefinaldesignafterdetailfindingsofthesuperstructure effect andsubsoilinvestigation.
Block A, Block B and Block C aremultistorybuildingsof up to level 10, the

loadingstransferredthroughthecolumnsofconsiderabledegree,andhenceareselectedtohaveMATtype
foundation forbothbearingsandstabilityreasons.
BlockD,E,FandGareoflowerstoreywhoseloading onsupportingcolumnsarenotsubstantial. In viewof

strong subsoil, isolated footings are most economical and safe. However,duetotheprovision of
expansionjoints,thefootingsattheboundarytoadjacentblockmayneedtobetiedtothenearbyfootingofth
esamebuildingblockbymeansofstraporcombinedfootingwouldbetheotheroption,
detailsofwhichtobeconsideredinthefinaldesign.
3.8StructuralAnalysis
Structuralmodelling
 Calculationsshallbecarriedoutusingappropriatestructuralmodelsinvolving relevant variables.

 Thestructuralmodelsselectedshouldbethoseappropriateforpredictingstructural
behaviorwithanacceptablelevelofaccuracy.Thestructuralmodelsshouldalsobe
appropriatetothelimitstatesconsidered.
 Structuralmodelsshallbebasedonestablishedengineeringtheoryandpractice.If
necessary,theyshallbeverifiedexperimentally.

 Themodelingforstaticactionsshallbebasedonanappropriatechoiceoftheforce- deformation
relationships of the members and their connections and between membersandtheground.
 Boundary conditions applied to the model shall represent those intended in the structure.
 Effectsofdisplacementsanddeformationsshallbetakenintoaccountinthecontext
ofultimatelimitstateverificationsiftheyresultinasignificantincreaseoftheeffectofactions.
Indirect actionsshallbeintroducedinthe analysisasfollows:

5.0 FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM
for the building a water-based fire fighting system is designed as per the
requirements set in EBCS-9 and portable multipurpose fire extinguishers placed
adjacent to the FHR
Fire hose reels are used for fire fighting in case of firebreak. For all floors of block
hydrant is designed for the floor the floor area which is less than 800 m2. for area
greater than 800m2 two FHR are used as per the code
Additionally a sprinkler system is used where there is assumed to be public interference
is high and fire expectation is high around public lobby
And also chemical based extinguishers shall be placed at fire vulnerable rooms like
data rooms, kitchen and security
Externally the fire suppression is done by using fire hose reel boxes and portable fire
extinguishers located at four sides of the site and additionally for refilling a fire
