HEA 3 Quarter 4

Name:
Activity 2:
All living things need to obtain fuel from something. Whether it is from yourself through the
process of photosynthesis or by ingesting something and breaking it apart into its components.
Assume that a researcher wants to know the percentage of elements in the biomolecules.
Complete the table below and find the P65 and interpret the result. Find how many percent of
the elements are greater than the cumulative frequency of 38 in the table below.

Solutions:
I.

𝑘𝑛 (65)(50) 3250
- = = = 32.5
100 100 100
32.5−27
- Pk = 35.5 + ( )5
11

- Pk = 35.5 + (5.5) 5
11

- Pk = 35.5 + (27.5)
11

- Pk = 35.5 + 2.5
- Pk = 38
Interpret the result:

100 (38−35.5 )11

- PR = [ ] [ ] + 27
50 5
- PR = (2) (27.5 + 27) 65% of the elements are less than or equal to the cumulative
5
- PR = (2) (5.5+27) frequency of 38
- PR = (2) (32.5) 35% of the element are greater than or equal to the
- PR = 65 cumulative frequency of 38.
- PR = 65%
II.

100 (38−35.5)11
- [ + 27]
50 5
(2.5)11
- 2 [ 5 + 27]
27.5
- 2[ + 27]
5
- 2 [5.5 + 27] 65% of the elements are less than or equal to the cumulative
- 2[32.5] frequency of 38
- 65% 35% of the element are greater than or equal to the
cumulative frequency of 38.
