PROJECT TITLE

How long on an average does it take to be served in the Tuck Shop line at your school?

3
INTRODUCTION
Edwin Allen High School has over 2000 students who mostly use the Tuck Shop for

lunch services and break time. Lunch and break is one of the most thrilling times at school

where students can go have a little conservation with their friends for a while, but the lunch

time is normally 50 minutes and break time is 20 minutes on an average. In most cases a

school has only one Tuck Shop. Is there enough time to serve all the students before recess is

up?

This SBA will endeavour to come across how long on an average it takes for students

to be served in the Tuck Shop line at the Edwin Allen High School.

There are 1-3 servers in the 5 Tuck Shops working assiduously to ensure all students

are served on time.

4
METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
The method of data collection that will be used are questionnaires. The Edwin Allen

High School has a population of over 2000 students. A sampling frame of 22 students

consisting of only 11th grade were chosen, due to similarities in subjects. A sample of 22

students 2 from each class were selected to carry out this investigation. The data was

collected by the use of a questionnaire. A questionnaire is a research instrument consisting of

a series of questions for the purpose of gathering information from respondents.

The data collection was carried out in these steps.

 A questionnaire was designed, consisting of ten (10) questions.

 It was given out to the respondents.

 It was returned one week after.

 The researchers analysed the results.

 Then placed it in a chart form.

The method of data collection were evaluated to be appropriate due to the fact that the

questions were assembled to gather only the information necessary for the investigation.

The research was carried out in February 24, 2021. Twenty two (22) student were

chosen for the investigation and all were completed and returned a week after.

reflecting frequency, midpoint and midpoint frequency (Fx).

9
Figure 5. Graph showing comparison between the time taken to get served during break and

the time taken to be served at lunch. It is shown that student took longer to get served at lunch

than at break, whereby most students took between 6 to 15 minutes to get served at break,

10
while on the other hand majority of students were served between 1 to 10 minutes and 16 to

25 minutes during lunch.

DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS
From the investigation conducted the results obtained shows the time taken by students to

be served at the tuck shop.

It was shown that on a daily basis it took 2 students to be served within 1-5 minutes, 8

within 6-10 minutes, 7 within 11-15 minutes and 3 students within 21-25 minutes. On the

other hand it took 4 students to be served within 1-5 minutes and 16-20 minutes, 1 student

within 11-15 minutes, 7 within 6-10 minutes, 4 within 21-25 minutes and 2 within 26-30

minutes.

The data shows that it takes most students within 1-15 minutes to be served during the

break period, while it took more than 15 minutes to be served during the lunch break/period.

11
ANALYSIS OF DATA
From the data presented, it can be analysed from our results that was shown from the

questionnaires we handed out, which was to determine how long it took students to be served

in the Tuck Shop line during lunch and break time. We have drawn conclusions that it ranges

between 1-25 minutes to be served at break time and 1-30 minutes to be served at lunch time.

12
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that on an average it took more than half of the students lunch time to

be standing in a line waiting to get served while it took up less time to get served during

break time. Students took longer during lunch time to get served than at break time.
