GULAYAN SA GRADE V
NARRATIVE REPORT
SY 2020-21

I. INTRODUCTION
Pursuant to DepEd order NO. 095 s.2018 on “Sustaining the Implementation
of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools
Nationwide, that is to address malnutrition and promote vegetable production and
consumption among school children. DepEd Memorandum No.293, s.2007 was
also issued to encourage both public elementary and secondary school to
established school gardens to ensure continuous supply of vegetables for school
feeding, specifically School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP). Sominot Central
School through the leadership of the School Principal, Pacita T. Damas. initiated
the idea that per grade level will implement Gulayan sa Paaralan. In so doing, the
Grade 5 level supports and implemented the program.

II. HIGHLIGHTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENT

Collaboration among co- and joint forces with the parents/guardians lead to
accomplishing the task. From identifying the area for gardening, preparing the area,
cleaning the area and making garden pots were done successfully. Choosing variety
of vegetables where teachers in each section were assigned to bring vegetable were
cooperatively done and the planting itself. Even were facing the new normal setting
of education, still the Gulayan sa Grade 5 is a success.

III. ISSUES AND CONCERNS

In this new normal way of education one issue that I would like to emphasized
is that, less support from parents has been observed. Though, the program is
successful but there are only a few who participated. The more the merrier in
achieving the goal.

IV. RECOMMENDATION
Parents are encouraged to help in the continuity of the program. The support
and involvement they can give will mean so much to the school. Parents are
also encouraged to make their vegetable garden at home as well as the teachers.

V. CONCLUSION

Strengthening the relationships with parents/guardians and the wider school

community to maximize their involvement in the educative process is one of our
aims in this new normal. Engaging and involving parents is our great concern.

With the Gulayan as implemented, help us realized that if we adapt

collaboration and partnership, truly the project will be successful.
