Assalamualaikum.

Today we would like to talk about a popular subject of a main concern of our parents; Online Games and Game Time!!!

There are many benefits from playing games online:

(1) We get to communicate with others online and make friends from abroad.
(2) Games can also be a tool to get our daily stress away.
(3) Most importantly, it helps us to be more familiar with computer skills and new technologies on the web.

Obviously there are a lot of concerns too, especially worrying our parents:

(1) Too much of game time may cause some people to have socializing problems. They prefer to communicate online
rather than socialize with real people in real life.
(2) It may cause stress or lose one’s confidence; if we lost too many times or played too long hours.
(3) To obsessed of playing games until lost track of daily responsibilities such as solat, bathing, eating, self-health and
other activities.
(4) Long hours of playing causing eye damage. As a result, there a new phenomenon where a lot more of kids nowdays
need to wear spectacles from a young age.

Here are some things that we can consider making game time more manageable:

(1) The most impactful would be parent’s involvement. I think parents should see how good their kids are in the games.
They can try to understand about the games their kids are involved in, the objective of the game and how the game
works. It would be great if the parents can be more supportive; maybe spend time to watch their kids play and winning
a game!!

(2) We should also control and limit the game time hours. For me my game time is 5 to 6 hours. Limiting game time is
important so that we contain the possibility of getting stressed of playing too much. This will definitely help to prevent
eye damage while giving a fair distribution of game time.

(3) Furthermore, we can plan to get online at the certain time of the day, maybe separate it into 2 or 3 shorter sessions to
meet our friends online and have fun playing together. This way, our time management will be arranged, and we have
better control of solat and eating time, as well as, other outdoor activities.

(4) Finally, we should adopt new habit of more physical activities. Yes, it is probably difficult to get a routine started. But
the thing is, our body needs the exercise and it will benefit our health in a long run; for example, jogging and
swimming.

We all know there is no shortcut in this matter, think and let’s try to make a change today!!
