Social Media Implementation: I think having a social media tool while teaching reading

and writing is very helpful. Instead of using a poster and the kids in the back of the room

can’t see it very well, being able to display something up on the screen that would help

portray what the lesson is going to be I think will help many students understand the

expectations. Being able to show a short clip of a story or a part of a movie and then

being able to have the kids see it for themselves helps a lot. By showing a short clip for

example of folk tale of Little Red Riding Hood students know that story but by showing

them the scene that they will be using their prior knowledge on helps the level of

understanding. Also, with using social media you are able to stop and pause it and

explain or have a discussion on what they just watched and then able to pick up right

where you left off. Then leading into writing being able to use YouTube to show

something specific in handwriting like doing cursive on a certain letter that way you don’t

have someone saying that they can’t see because your hand or arm was in the way.

There are so many positive aspects of being able to use social media to help show and

explain what is being taught.

For the SAMR model I think this is using the A part of SAMR. I think it falls under

augmentation because it is using technology as a direct substitute as a teacher teaching

the whole lesson. It is using a short clip or video instead of a teacher using a poster and
talking the whole time. The video is replacing that and showing a visual demonstration

makes it a lot easier to just be able to show quick and have everything you need right in

the video.
