1. RATIONALE

Nutrition has been a crucial issue worldwide in response to the crisis we are facing, the
COVID-19 Pandemic. The new normal has come and there is no point of return to the old
normal like we lived before the crisis occurred. Despite the crisis, it paved way to the opportunity
to emphasize, realign and strengthen food sufficiency and safety efforts, especially sustainable
agriculture and fisheries production. Inclusive of the strategy to boost immunity and community
health and safety is ensuring that every family is consuming healthy foods and comply to
existing rules and regulations of the government towards minimizing and eradicating the spread
of infection.
In this connection, the LGU Kauswagan is extending these interventions to the “From
Arms to Farms” Program beneficiaries under the Sustainable Integrated Kauswagan Area
Development and Peace Agenda (SIKAD PA) framework of governance. The activity will
showcase the best agricultural practices of communal gardens, both the farmers and BLGU in
our municipality and package the technologies, success indicators and challenges for
dissemination to them through the upcoming trainings so that these partners will be able to
improve their farming activities and productivity. In addition to this, this is a way to respond to
the call for the promotion and waging of war against the global pandemic towards food
sufficiency and healthy lifestyle.

2. Objectives:

The main objective of this activity is to provide venue for promotion of food
security and sufficiency thru agri-fishery production activities in time of pandemic in the
municipality.

Specific Objectives:

1. To provide incentives to outstanding Communal Gardens

2. To showcase the sustainability and its impact within the barangay and in municipality
as a whole
3. To encourage the communities to participate the program on food security and
sufficiency
4. To package the technologies and best practices of the communal gardens for
dissemination to the beneficiaries of the “From Arms to Farms” Program
