BUDGET PROPOSAL

Project Name: Barangay. Purok BP Hub Establishment and Weekly Zumba Session

Date: February 8, 2023

This project proposal includes information that will help us in implementing our intervention in
Brgy. Guripan, Municipality of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur which the group pursues. Each cost
component for the project is itemized and justified in the budget proposal provided below.

Project Description
High Incidence of Hypertension is the number one identified health problem in Brgy. Guripan.
To address this concern, the group determined the following as a venue to deal with this health
dilemma.
General Objectives:
To increase the number of controlled blood pressure from 70.2% to 90% with recommended
blood pressure levels among adult residents of Barangay Guripan, Municipality of Mahayag,
Zamboanga del Sur by the year 2023.

Specific Objectives:
1. To improve case detection, and referral and monitoring scheme for hypertension.
2. To increase knowledge on hypertension, its risk factors, complications and means of prevention
among residents of the barangay.
3. To increase compliance rate to medications of hypertensive individual.

In line with the aim of the group to improve the case detection rate, monitoring and compliance
of hypertensive individuals in Brgy. Guripan, the group, together with the community people came up
with a solution to address the distance of the health center from the different puroks. This is the
establishment of Brgy. Purok BP Hub wherein a designated area will be assigned that are accessible by
the purok members where they can identify elevated blood pressure, determine the need for referral to
Rural Health Unit (RHU) and to monitor the effectiveness and encourage compliance to medications.
In addition, a trained lay person will assess blood pressure and determine if referral to the health center
is needed and eventually to the RHU for proper diagnosis and treatment. The Purok BP Hub will also
include distribution of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials that contain
information relevant to this campaign, hence the materials to execute plan.
Moreover, to encourage healthy lifestyle and improve the general heart health of the community,
the group will also conduct weekly Zumba session that covers all age that can perform the activity
safely. We are hoping that at the end of our exposure we will be able to increase the participants
through increased purok participation and for the final week of this activity, competition of the best
Zumba Choreo by purok. The group is planning to provide cash prize for the activity; P 3,000.00 first
prize; P 2,000.00 second prize; P 1,000.00 third prize and P 500.00 consolation prize.
Through these, we hope to encourage and possibly bring out a Healthier Barangay Guripan.

component for the project is itemized and justified in the budget proposal provided below.

Project Description
Lack of Accessibility to Safe drinking water is the second community health problem identified
in Barangay Guripan. In response to the lack of safe drinking water in Barangay Guripan, workshops

also, highlight the common water-borne diseases and its effect to the health of the community.
General Objectives:
To increase the number of households in Barangay Guripan, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur with

Guripan on water treatment and purification practices.
2. To improve drinking water facilities and construct low risk water sources in Barangay Guripan.

In line with the goal of the group to increase the accessibility of safe drinking water in
Barangay Guripan, one of the strategies of the group is to collaborate with the barangay and local
government unit officials in stipulating the need to procure the SAWYER water filter system for each
of the water sources in Barangay Guripan. Moreover, collaboration with the project head of Help 2
Other (H2O) Tubig Inumin Potable Water Filtration System was done to provide for the SAWYER
water filter. Sustainability will mainly be done by strengthening the barangay ordinance on
environmental health and sanitation with the help of the Kagawad in charge. Moreover, the sanitary
inspector will be take charge of the regular testing of the water source every 6 months. On the other
hand, the community people will be surveyed months after rendering health education in order to
determine the usefulness of the teachings and changes regarding the water safety practices of the
community.
Furthermore, added project of the group is the establishment of the SODIS station areas per
purok to encourage the practice of SODIS as a form of water purification technique, especially for
those residents who have difficulty in accessing the water sources of Barangay Guripan.

BUDGET PROPOSAL

Project Name: “Impormasyong Kalimpyuhan, Lawas Di’ Mapasagdan Purok to Purok Campaign,”
“Hello Healthy, Goodbye Dumi School Based Activity,” and Sanitary Toilet Construction

Date: February 8, 2023

This budget proposal outlines the necessary expenses associated with the aforementioned
project which we wish to pursue. Each cost component for the project is itemized and justified in the
budget proposal provided below.

Project Description
The community people of Barangay Guripan named “Lack of Sanitary Toilet” as one of their
community health problems. Among the 271 households surveyed, 87% (243 households) have their
own toilet facility; in which only 77% (208 households) uses their own toilet facility, 19% (52
households) shares with other households while the remaining 4% (11 households) practice open
defecation.

General Objective:
To increase the number of households with private and sanitary toilet facilities from 87% to 100% by
the year 2023.

Specific Objectives:
1. Increase the number of households with sanitary toilet to 100% by the year 2023.
2. Increase knowledge of community residents on the importance of having a sanitary toilet by the
year 2023
Achieving for 100% households with sanitary toilet facilities is the goal, moreover the
sustainability of the project is important to address the real problem and its threat to health. The
existing Barangay Council plays a vital role in formulating and implementing ordinances. In
accordance with the official barangay ordinance on sanitary toilet facilities, there would be a project
will assist in mandating that every household own/build a sanitary toilet facility that complies with the
established standards. One (1) sanitary toilet facility each household, each unit is 5x10 feet in size, has a
toilet bowl, four walls, a ceiling, a door and a septic tank. The recipients should read, understand and
sign social acceptability memorandum of understanding indicating their responsibilities in maintaining
a sanitary toilet facility.
As mentioned above, one of our specific objective is to increase the knowledge of the
community residents on the importance of having a sanitary toilet. With this, the group would conduct
“Impormasyong Kalimpyuhan, Lawas Di’ Mapasagdan Purok to Purok Campaign” and “Hello Healthy,
Goodbye Dumi School Based Activity.” Soaps for hand washing demonstration; literacy materials such
as pamphlets, posters and tarpaulins; prizes, and snacks will be needed.
Through these, we hope to encourage and possibly bring out a Healthier Barangay Guripan.
