“Nido” commercial titled “# Love that protects”

Sociological Approach:
The commercial of Nido entitled Love that protects gained a lot of attention when it was
released years ago. There were positive comments from people who understood and related
but, there were more negative comments that questioned why they portrayed a family like
that. It was really realistic and the production team was brave enough to show a different
family set-up to its viewers. There’s no perfect family and it’s the reality we must face today. It
is not easy to find a commercial like this, especially in the Filipino television for we live in a
conservative society that easily judges without knowing the reason behind things.
As seen in the commercial, the parents are having a joint custody of their son as they
cope and live their daily lives. A lot of people today are experiencing this kind of situation. The
ad also transmitted values through imposing that though families were broken, there can still
be a chance for them to settle their home once again. But, some broken families simply can’t
be together anymore and often, will be better off if chosen to go on separate ways due to
underlying circumstances. The ad may be giving away false hope for children and/or people
living in the same condition to the reality that not all broken families will fall onto the same
path. Despite of that, it is quite brave for Nestle company to produce such concept that is
sensitive to most of Filipinos.
Stem Student’s Level of Satisfaction on Undertaking Online/Distance Learning in
Tanza National Comprehensive High School

Educational institutions worldwide had to shift the teaching delivery mode from face to
face to online teaching during COVID-19. Distance learning is gaining wider acceptance and
has become a viable alternative of conventional classroom teaching. As distance learning
offers the benefits of low cost, wider access and shared resources, institutions offering
traditional classroom education have also opted for distance learning along with their
traditional courses (Zaheer, 2013). Online learning is about describing the learning “wholly
online” where the learners learn outside the classroom and is considered similar to distance
learning but using online platforms (Oblinger et al. 2005). Student satisfaction is more
precisely conceptualized as students’ perception developed from the perceived value of
education and experience gained at an educational institute (Astin, 1993).
As the outbreak of COVID-19 has forced many institutions to switch their teaching
mode to online teaching instead of face-to-face teaching, it is vital for the educational
institutions to understand what factors might impact the satisfaction of students and further
their intention to learn the courses online in the future. Most of the past studies focused on
different areas of online learning, such as the differences in students’ performance, their
attitudes, and on identifying the intention of students. Some studies focused on the designing
the learning activities to make online learning effective. However, very few studies such as the
student’s level of satisfaction on undertaking online/distance learning, and this study will add
more knowledge towards this area in the literature.

OBJECTIVE
This study is aimed at measuring stem student satisfaction with distance learning
environment in Tanza National Comprehensive High School.
