Introductory Message
Welcome to English 7 !

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Cadiz City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible
adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The English 7 Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the leaching-learning
activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC) with
minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will be made
available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The English 7 Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue learning

even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you with meaningful
and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active learner, carefully
read and understand the instructions then perform the activities and answer the
assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

Navigate a Website Using Essential Features, e.g. Using Headings, Links, Etc.

I. Learning Competency with Code

Navigate a Website Using Essential Features, e.g. Using Headings, Links, Etc.
(EN7V-IV-d-23.1)

II. Background Information for Learners

A website is a group of World Wide Web pages usually containing hyperlinks

to each other and made available online by an individual, company, educational
institution, government, or organization.

Examples of websites that you are most likely familiar with are YouTube,
Google, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, Yahoo!, Instagram, and Twitter.

Website navigation is the process of finding contents and features of a site

through a collection of user interface components. You can compare a website to a
new tourist spot. Imagine yourself exploring a new tourist spot. You have to know
the location of the cafeteria, the swimming pool, the movie house, and the roller-
coaster rides. These are the features of the place. The landmarks and signs,
brochures and maps are just some of the user interface components.

A. Links: Hypertext and Hypermedia

To navigate a website is like finding your way in a certain place. You use
menus with internal links in navigating pages, apps and websites on the internet.
This is made possible through hypertext or hypermedia. Hypertext is a word or
words that contains a hyperlink to another website, while hypermedia includes text,
graphics, audio or video.

Take a look at the given screenshots. When you click the word pandemic
which is a hypertext, you will be taken to another page that tells about pandemic.
An image link is the most common form of hypermedia. When you click a
“thumbnail” image, a larger version of a picture may open in a new window. Often
linked to other pages are graphics or photos on the web. When you move the cursor
over an image or video and it changes into a small hand, it means the image or
video is linked to another page.

In this example of hypermedia, all of the images of popular cities in Western

Visayas are linked to another page such that when you click the image of Iloilo, you
will be taken to another page that tells about Iloilo.

B. Types of Website Navigation

In navigating a website, there are menus that make it easy for visitors to find
what they are looking for.

Us and Regions.

2. Dropdown Navigation Menu

When you click K to 12, sub-menus appear and you will have options for
each item in the sub-menu. This is an example of a dropdown navigation
menu. Most important or general items are listed in the top-level
navigation bar. The rest are included in the dropdown menu.
.

3. Hamburger Navigation Menu

The hamburger menu is often used in mobile web design. Its name is
derived from how it looks. It has three horizontal lines that resemble a
hamburger. When clicked, the hamburger icon typically opens up into a
side menu or a navigation drawer. using a cellular phone, this is how the
website of the Department of Education looks like.

The vertical sidebar navigation menu shows navigation items that are on
