III. LEARNING PROCEDURES

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

A. Preliminary Activities:
1. Prayer
Let us all stand for a prayer. Meya, In the name of the father…
kindly lead the prayer.
2. Greetings Good Morning, Ma’am! Mabuhay!
Good morning, Class!
Okay, everybody sit down.
3. Classroom Management
Pick some pieces of garbage under Yes, Maam!
your chair.
4. Checking of Attendance
Say present if your name is called.
5. Drill
Energizer! “FRACTION SONG FOR
KIDS”
6. Review
(5.1) Our last topic is all about
(5.1) What was our topic yesterday?
multiplication of decimal numbers.
(5.2) We have to use the formula
(5.2) How to multiply fractions? that is given.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
BINGO FRACTION
Let us have a short activity, I will group
you into 2. Answer the BINGO BOARD
that is given to your respective group.
Find the correct illustration of fraction.
2.

Unlocking of Difficulties

Now, Let us try to define first some

terms of our topic today which are
unfamiliar to us.

Fraction – a number express as a

quotient, in which a numerator is
divided by a denominator
Multiplicative – the nature of
multiplication
Reciprocal – describes something
that’s the same on both sides
Inverse – opposite or contrary in
position, direction, order or effect.
3. Presentation
Today, we will be discussing about
multiplying fractions and mixed
fractions.

A good place to start is with some simple

terminology around how a fraction is
composed:
 Numerator – the top number, which
refers to how many parts (of whole)
you have.
 Denominator – the bottom number,
which refers to the total number of
parts making up the whole.

5
Numerator
(the number of parts we have)
10

Denominator
(total parts in whole)
4. Setting of Standards
(4.1) What will you do when we
have an activity? (4.1) We must have to follow the rule
and standards, Ma’am!
5 points for Orderliness
(4.2) What are the consequences 5 points for Cooperation
for those who violate the rule? (4.2) There will be a deduction of
one point for each standard.
5. Activity
“TAMA o MALI FRACTION”

 Let us now try another activity that I

prepared for you. In the same
group, you will have to answer the
following problem. Listen to the
instructions very carefully. Read
and analyze the situation given to
your group. You are only given 5
minutes to answer the activity. I will
group you into two. All you need to
do is to solve the problem every
each of you in the board. Your
group will shout the TAMA o MALI
if you’ve got the correct answer.
1 1
1. ÷ 3 =¿
2 4
2 3
2. ÷ =¿
3 6
6 2
3. ÷ =¿
12 8
5 4
4. ÷ =¿
10 8
10 1
5. ÷ =¿
20 6

6. Analysis (6.1) We need to learn division of

(6.1) Why do we need to learn fraction so that we can use it in our
division of fraction? daily activities like buying groceries.
(6.2) We need to learn so that we
(6.2) why do we have to learn to can solve our own when we do our
solve division of fraction? daily activities.

7. Abstraction
(7.1) What is the number that result (7.1) It is called Quotient.
division? (7.2) Change first each mixed
number to an improper fraction.
(7.2)How do we divide fraction by
mixed fraction?
8. Application
Let us now try another activity that I
prepared for you. In the same group, you
will have to answer the following problem.
Listen to the instructions very carefully. I
will group you into 2 groups.
Solve the problem solving with your
group.
GROUP 1: A swimming pool is open for 7
½ hours during a day. The pool keeps one
lifeguard on duty at a time, and each
lifeguards shift is 1 ½ hours long. How
many shifts are there per day?
GROUP 2: It’s spaghetti night at Britney’s
house. She has ½ of cup of grated cheese
to sparkle equally over 3 bowls of
spaghetti. How many cups of cheese does
she put in each bowl?

9. Generalization
 Dividing simple fractions is just
about as easy as multiplying them.
The knowledge in finding the
reciprocal is applicable. In dividing
mixed fractions, we are looking for
the reciprocal of the divisor and
applying the concept in multiplying
fractions.

IV. Evaluation
Directions: Find the answer to the following. Make sure your answer is in its
simplest form.
3 1
1. 6 6 ÷ 2 =¿
12 1
2. 15 ÷ 2 3 =¿
20 5
3. 5 30 ÷ 6 =¿
4 3
4. 5 ÷ 4 =¿
1
5. 5 4 ÷2½ =

V. Assignment
Directions: Answer the following questions.
1. Grandma have ¾ yards of pipe. How many pieces can you cut the pipe
into if each piece is 1/8?
2. Corie is ½ done with her homework for the night. If she can complete her
homework at a pace of 1/12 problem per minute, how long will it take her
to complete her homework?
