Narrative Report: A 10 Day Immersion

On the 4th of November we started our Immersion. It is one of our

requirement as an graduating students and it is consists of 10 consecutive days. On
the first day I wasn’t able to adopt the business of the place. I wasn’t actually
expecting that every Monday, there will be huge amount of people who are
coming. I was taught by a classmate of mine who got their immersion ahead of us
their oh how to help the people when they are going to get their balik-manggagawa
as well as their overseas employment certificate. Some of the clients don’t have
account yet in which it is a one step before they are able to get their documents,
and we are going to help them make their account so that it won’t be hassle for
them. Days follow and the routine was the same unless it is already afternoon
because clients are less in the afternoon. Along the way of our immersion, we are
able to learn how to handle different types of people. There are that kind of people
who are kind and are willing to wait for their turn and there are also people who
are impatient they tend to get angry easier and sometimes their voices get loud. But
it was a matter of being professional we must humble ourselves in order to have a
smooth conversation with them and for us to be able to help them with their needs.
Me and my classmate were 8 in total, and it will be so awkward if all of us will be
staying in the front desk. So, we decided that there will be assigned in the Xerox
machine, on the front desk and in assisting the clients. The experience was
amazing; it was a taste of what real world looks like outside the school. It clearly
shows what life after school might be so stressful but at the same time it is also fun
and exciting. Because it will not always about the work you know already, but it is
also about the knowledge you will learn along the way. Meeting new people also
who are working in POEA like Ma’am Marieta, Ma’am Helen and Atty. Paǹares
made me feel more encourage in finishing my studies and have my own a degree.
Not only because of the salary but also because of the fact that I can help people
that need my help. Our last day was nice, we bid our goodbyes to all of the
employees of POEA and left. The memories and knowledge will be forever kept.
Thank God because was able to know a little about processing the requirements of
an OFW and whom should I come when I’m on doubt if ever I’m going outside for
work in the future.
