Exam Requirements

As a future educator, I must pass the Praxis Core Exam because it is a requirement

that measures my academic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics in order to be considered

as a possible candidate for a university. Furthermore, in the state of Nevada, this exam is

required to be passed in order to receive my teaching license. The Praxis Core passing score in

Nevada for reading is 156, for writing is 162, and for mathematics is 150.

Exam Preparation

I did not prepare myself for the Praxis Core Exam for the subjects of reading and

writing. I did, however, watched a Mometrix test preparation video for the math portion that was

extremely helpful because I was able to remember useful math formulas. Additionally, I read

about the content areas that the Praxis Core Exam focuses on and learned that each subject area

of the exam is time. When I took my exam, I timed myself to see if I was able to complete the

exam in time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t but I know that if I prepare myself I could accomplish it.

Exam Results

As far as my results, I scored in the 43% range, which means significant

improvement is needed to pass the Praxis Core Exam. In regards to the writing section for the

exam, I score in the 68% percent range, which indicates that improvement is needed to pass the

exam. Lastly, as for the mathematic section, I scored in the 68% range, which shows that that

improvement is needed to pass the exam.

Future Exam Preparation

In order to pass the Praxis Core Exam, I need to dedicate some of my time to

studying for all three areas of the exam. A great resource that I found very beneficial is Khan

Academy Official Praxis Core Prep because I can come up with a study plan that works with my

schedule. Additionally, I plan on purchasing the Praxis for dummies book to acquire additional

study material. I would consider investing in tutor lessons because I have noticed that I learn best

when I have someone teaching me. Therefore, having one-on-one tutor sessions would be

beneficial for me.
