LOCALIZED AND CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING MATERIALS

Grade Six Science

Topic: Organ System: (Urinary System)

The subject is utilizing a recyclable material that may represent the model of a
urinary system using small plastic bottle of mineral water, small plastic hose used in
dextrose and filter paper.
The small plastic bottle of mineral is used to represent the kidneys and the
urinary bladder and the filter paper will represent the nephrons of the kidney that
serve as the filtering agent and then the small plastic hose will serve as the ureter,
and urethra.
This improvise and localize learning materials can demonstrate the filtration
process made by kidneys in cleaning the waste product of the blood after carrying
carbon dioxide and waste product during cellular respiration conducted by the cell
wherein the blood will pass through first the kidney to remove the waste product
specially the urine and other waste materials before it will go back to the heart then
to the lungs then back to the heart until the process is being repeated.
Localization is manifested since we are using materials that can be seen and
provided by pupils at home only in this time of pandemic. We are contextualizing this
because we are considering our learners’ situation wherein most of them are living in
the mountain and remote area and their source of water is spring wherein it is rich in
sediment that might be integrated in the lesson that one of the leading cause of
kidney problem is the sediment coming from the water we drink when it is not filtered
properly.

Grade Six TLE

Topic: Industrial Arts (Making A Fan)

The school is utilizing materials that could be found in the locality of Painaan.
This school is rich in “buho” a specy of bamboo which is very easy to wave or
extracted in forming an improvise fan. The materials to be used are the buho, rattan,
and colloring dye. The product is very useful specially during summer season. This is
a very durable product using the buho. This could also improve the skills of our
learners and could be a source of income if the finish product is added with
decoration and design.
This is localizing and contextualizing a lesson in TLE specially in Industrial
Arts wherein the pupils are taught how to create a handicraft using the materials
available in the community. We are contextualizing because we are promoting the
use of the resources present in the community and could help also promote the
product as their signature product in the place when fully establish. Cultural practices
before in the place will be restored but with enhancement.
