III. PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill Okay, class! First, let’s have a drill.

Identify the names of the following

shapes.

1. 1. Circle

2. 3
2. Heart
3.

3. Square
4.

4. Triangle
5. Rectangle
5.
6. Review Class, let’s have a short recall on
what you have learned about the
topic of shapes.

What is “Shape”? Shape is a two-

dimensional area that is
defined in some way,
either with an outline or
boundary around it.
Very Good!

Give examples of “Shapes”. Examples of shapes are

circle, triangle,
rectangle, square, etc.
That’s correct!
7. Motivation Okay, class! I will show you different
pictures.

What are in the pictures? In the pictures shown,

there are objects like
rubrics cube, traffic
funnel, ice cream cone,
party or birthday hat
and different shapes like
cone, pyramid and cube.

Correct!

What are the shapes of the different The shapes of the

objects in the pictures? different objects in the
pictures are cone,
pyramid and cube.

That’s right!
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation Let’s study this illustration.

What are the different figures you

can see in the illustration? The different figures in
the illustration are cube,
square-based pyramid,
cone, triangular prism,
triangular-based
pyramid, cylinder and
sphere.
Very Good!

What can you say about the given

figures in the illustration? The given figures in the
illustration are in three-
dimension.
That’s correct, class!
2. Discussion Now, let’s proceed to our lesson for
today.

The given figures in the illustration

we have studied are examples of
“Spatial Figures”.

Let’s read the definition of “Spatial

Figures”.
Spatial Figure
-is a three-dimensional
figure. It is made up of
plane figure whose all
sides are joined
together to form a close
figure.

Very Good!

Some examples of spatial figures

figures include cubes, cylinders,
cones, prisms, pyramids, spheres
and rectangular prisms.

So, let’s proceed to the definition

and description of examples of
spatial figures.

Cube
-A prism all of whose faces are
congruent squares.

Pyramid
-A three-dimensional figure with a
polygonal base and a triangular
lateral face.

Prism
-A three-dimensional figure whose
bases are congruent polygons in
parallel planes and whose faces are
parallelograms.

Cylinder
-A spatial figure with two circular
bases in parallel planes. Its surface is
formed by line segments connecting
the two parallel planes.

Cone
-A spatial figure with a circular base
and a surface formed by line
segments joining every point on the
boundary (edge) of the base to a
common vertex in a parallel plane.

Sphere
-A three-dimensional figure whose
points are located at a constant
distance away from its center.

3. Comparison and What’s the difference between

Abstraction shapes and spatial figures? Shapes are two-
dimensional while
spatial figures are three-
dimensional which
means it has length,
width and height.
That’s correct!

What are the differences of the

different kinds of spatial figures that
you have learned? Cube is a prism all of
whose faces are
congruent squares.
Pyramid is a three-
dimensional figure with
a polygonal base and a
triangular lateral face.
Prism is a three-
dimensional figure
whose bases are
congruent polygons in
parallel planes and
whose faces are
parallelograms.
Cylinder is a spatial
figure with two circular
bases in parallel planes.
Its surface is formed by
line segments
connecting the two
parallel planes.
Cone is a spatial figure
with a circular base and
a surface formed by line
segments joining every
point on the boundary
(edge) of the base to a
common vertex in a
parallel plane.
Sphere is a three-
dimensional figure
whose points are
located at a constant
distance away from its
center.
Very Good!
C. Concluding Activities
1. Generalization What is “Spatial Figure”? Spatial Figure is a three-
dimensional figure. It is
made up of plane figure
whose all sides are
joined together to form
a close figure.
Correct!

What are the different kinds of

spatial figures? The different kinds of
spatial figures include
cube, cone, pyramid,
sphere, prism and
cylinder.
Very Good!

Give example of spatial figure with

its description. One example of spatial
figure is pyramid. It is a
three-dimensional
figure with a polygonal
base and a triangular
lateral face.
That’s correct!

How can we apply the use of spatial

figures in real-life situations? We can apply the use of
spatial figures in real-
life situations in terms
of constructing a 3D
school projects.

Very Good!
2. Application Now, let’s have a group activity.
Divide the class into 3
groups. Let the pupils
look for objects that can
be found around which
can be examples of each
spatial figures:

1. Sphere
2. Cube
3. Cone
4. Pyramid
5. Cylinder
3. Valuing What is the importance of spatial
figures in our lives? The importance of
spatial figures in our
lives is that it makes
things look more
creative, well-designed
and unique from other
objects.
Good!
