Math 3
2nd Semester
S.Y. 2010- 2011

I. Course Title : Solid Mensuration

II. Credit : Three (3) Units
III. Course Description : This course is a comprehensive study on the measurement of various plane and solid figures. It covers not only the
various formulas used to determine the dimensions and areas of various plane figures but also formulas and strategies
used to find the volumes and angles formed by the dimensions of various solid figures. More importantly, this course
seeks to provide the students a good perception and visualization of the cross sections of solids and the concept of
space.
IV. Prerequisites : Math 124
V. General Objectives : At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:

1. Identify the axioms, definitions and theorems pertaining to points, lines, planes and angles;
2. Solve the areas, dimensions and angles formed by the dimensions of various plane figures.
3. Define circles, geometric solid, polyhedron and other related concepts;
4. Identify the axioms, definitions and theorems pertaining to polyhedron;
5. Define and identify the different parts of cylinders, pyramids and cones;
6. Solve problems involving pyramids and cones and cylinders;
7. Define sphere and other geometric figures obtained from sphere;
8. Solve geometrical problems involving these figures.
