IV. PROCEDURES ( PAMAMARAAN )

A. Review Previous Lessons (Balik-Aral sa Drill:

nakaraang aralin at/o pagsisimula ng aralin) Take a look at each drawing and try to identify what spatial figures
being shown.
Review:
I have here some lollipops.
Please pick one and describe the shape or polygon that has on it. If you
guess it correctly, then the lollipop will be yours.

Are you ready?

It seems that you are already familiar with different polygons. Now lets move
on to our todays lesson.

B. Establishing purpose for the Lesson (Paghahabi Oh! What are these objects?
sa layunin ng aralin) Can you help me identify Johan’s toys?

After playing, what should ypu do with your toys? Why?

Very Good!Cleaning our room will remove the dust and germs that might get
us sick. It will also makes our room tidy and organized.

The objects that show a while ago are examples of solid figures.
Today you will be visualizing and describing solid figures.
Lets get started!

Solid Figures are three dimentional objects that has length, width and height.
Morover, they have faces, vertices and edges.

Vocabulary Time!

SINGULAR PLURAL
FACE FACES
VERTEX VERTICES
EDGE EDGES
POLYHEDRON POLYHEDRA

FACE
The face is a curved or flat surface of a solid figure
EDGE- is a line segment between the faces
VERTEX
Is a point where 2 edges met

Solid figures are either PLYHEDRON or NON-POLYHEDRON

What are difference between polyhedron and non polyhedron?
POLYHEDRON- all its faces are polygons
Examples- cube, pyramid, rectangular prism

NON POLYHEDRON-has curved faces or a mix of curve and flat surface.

Examples- cylinder, cone, sphere

This time let us know the different kinds of solid figures through this song.
I want you to listen, watch and sing along with this song.

What are the solid figures mentioned in the song?

Great!
We have sphere, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism and cube
C. Presenting examples /instances of the new
lessons (Pag-uugnay ng mga halimbawa sa bagong Let us describe and visualize the different kinds of solid figures.
aralin)

Cube
Is a prism with congruent squares as bases ( or sides) and lateral faces. It has 6
faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices. Lets count the 6 faces. Next the 12 edges and
last, the 8 vertices. Give examples.

Pyramid
Is a solid figure made up of base and triangular faces. These faces meet at a
common topmost point called vertex. It has 5 faces, 8 edges and 5 vertices.
Examples- tent, tower

Rectangular Prism
Is a solid figure thar have parallel faces that have the same shape. These faces
of its sides are parallelograms. It has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.
Examples- truct, toy box, refrigerator

Cylinder
Is a solid figure that has two circles and curved lateral face. It has 2 circluar
bases. It has 3 faces, 3 edges and 0 vertex.
Examples- drum, cup, battery

Cone
A solid figure that has a circular flat base and curved face pointed towards the
top. The pointed top end of the cone is called the vertex. It has 2 faces, 1 edge
and 1 vertex.
Examples- traffic sign, megaphone, party hat

Sphere
Is a solid figure in which all points are of equal distance from a point called its
center and these points from a curved surface as well.
Examples- orange, ball, globe

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new Group Activity:

skills #1. (Pagtatalakay ng bagong konsepto at Group 1
paglalahad ng bagong kasanayan #1) Write the name of the solid figures that matches the shapes of the given objects
below.

Group II
Complete the table below to describe solid figures
Group III
Give the letter of the solid figure being describe in Column A to
column B

E. Discussing new concepts & practicing new skills Aldrich bought a robot for his little brother John at SM Center Las

ng Bagong kasanayan #2) each part and the robot appears as shown below.

He wants to challenge his little brother John by asking him to identify

the different solid figures in each of the corresponding parts of the
robot. What are the different solid figures that make up the robot?

3. I am solid figure. I have no faces or edges. I am round.
4. I have 3 sides. My sides are not always the same. I have
3 vertices.
5. I am solid figure. I have 6 faces, 8 vertices and 12 edges, all
equal.
6. I am solid figure. I am round and have 1 round face. I have a

H. Making Generalizations & Abstractions about the How do you identify the faces of a solid figure?
lessons (Paglalahat ng Aralin) A face is one of the flat surfaces on a solid figure. A plane figure
is a flat, two-dimensional figure. A prism is a three-dimensional
object with two congruent parallel bases that are polygons. A
pyramid is a three-dimensional object with a base that is a polygon
and
triangular faces that meet at one vertex.
