It seems that you are already familiar with different polygons. Now lets move
on to our todays lesson.
B. Establishing purpose for the Lesson (Paghahabi Oh! What are these objects?

The objects that show a while ago are examples of solid figures.
Today you will be visualizing and describing solid figures.
Lets get started!
Solid Figures are three dimentional objects that has length, width and height.
Morover, they have faces, vertices and edges.
Vocabulary Time!
SINGULAR PLURAL
FACE FACES
VERTEX VERTICES
EDGE EDGES
POLYHEDRON POLYHEDRA
FACE
The face is a curved or flat surface of a solid figure
EDGE- is a line segment between the faces
VERTEX
Is a point where 2 edges met
This time let us know the different kinds of solid figures through this song.
I want you to listen, watch and sing along with this song.
Cube
Is a prism with congruent squares as bases ( or sides) and lateral faces. It has 6
faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices. Lets count the 6 faces. Next the 12 edges and
last, the 8 vertices. Give examples.
Pyramid
Is a solid figure made up of base and triangular faces. These faces meet at a
common topmost point called vertex. It has 5 faces, 8 edges and 5 vertices.
Examples- tent, tower
Rectangular Prism
Is a solid figure thar have parallel faces that have the same shape. These faces
of its sides are parallelograms. It has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.
Examples- truct, toy box, refrigerator
Cylinder
Is a solid figure that has two circles and curved lateral face. It has 2 circluar
bases. It has 3 faces, 3 edges and 0 vertex.
Examples- drum, cup, battery
Cone
A solid figure that has a circular flat base and curved face pointed towards the
top. The pointed top end of the cone is called the vertex. It has 2 faces, 1 edge
and 1 vertex.
Examples- traffic sign, megaphone, party hat
Sphere
Is a solid figure in which all points are of equal distance from a point called its
center and these points from a curved surface as well.
Examples- orange, ball, globe
