Analogy graphic organizer on Geometrical shapes
 Using the Analogy Graphic Organizer, fill in the boxes that
correspond to the characteristics of each group of geometric
shapes.

Establishing purpose for The teacher will let his/her pupils look around inside/outside the
the Lesson classroom to look for the real objects/things with three dimensions.

Question:

1. What are the real objects with three dimensions you have
seen?
Ball, classroom, box.

Presenting The teacher will give a group activity. The learners will be divided
examples/instances of according to their learning needs, easy, average and advance. They
the new lesson will be given 5 minutes to finish the activity.
Group Activity

Discussing new concept Using Direct Instructions:

and Show pictures to the learners of solid figures in a table
practicing new skills #1 presentation.

 What are the solid figures shown in the table?

Expected Answers:
Pyramid, Cone, Prism ,Sphere, Cube, Cylinder

 How would you describe each solid figure?

Expected Answers:
Each figure has length, height, and width.

Discussion

• What is a solid figure? What are the solid figures?

Solid figures are three-dimensional objects that have length,

width and height.

Different Solid Figures

1. Sphere is a figure with a curved surface in which all points

on the surface are equal distance from the centre.
2. Prism is a polyhedron (figures whose surfaces are
polygons) with exactly two faces that are parallel. These
faces are called bases.

3. Cone has a circular base connected to a vertex.

4. Pyramid is a polyhedron in which one face, also called the

base, can be any polygon. The other faces, also called the
lateral faces or triangular sides, are triangles that meet at a
common vertex.

5. Cube is also a prism with congruent squares as bases and

lateral faces.

6. Cylinder is a solid figure that has two circular bases that are
parallel.

Discussing new concept Using Direct Instructions

and
practicing new skills #2 Using a spinning wheel. Wherein solid figure names are indicated in
each space.
Pupils will cite examples of objects which look like the solid figure
shapes according to where the spinning wheel stops.

• Expected Answers:

1. Cone looks like an ice cream.

2. Cylinder just like an oil container.
3. Pyramid just like pyramid in Egypt.

Developing mastery Group Activity

assessment) Direction: Do the following:
