IMPORTANCE OF MILITAR TRAINING IN PHILIPPINES

Introduction
Military or commonly known as Armed Force serve to protect their
respective country for the possible wars. Military forces has an obligation to
defend homeland, build security globally, and project power and win decisively.
Military troops or group is much needed in a country. However, there are some
countries that doesn’t have Military forces but they are supported by other
country or other security systems. Being member to a county needs to affiliate
the responsibility, discipline and the courage to serve the country and its
belongings.
ROTC or Reserve Officer Training Corps in the Philippines is one of the three
components of National Service Training Program, other underlying program are
Civil Service Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) for the
Filipino College Students. ROTC is a college program that aims to provide military
education and training for students to mobilize them for national defense
preparedness. ROTC in Philippines is no longer a mandatory due to some issues
about hazing, sexual harassment and death of some cadets that turn the students
to be afraid in ROTC program to take off. This program accepting male and female
cadets. There are also selected college-educated men and women for position of
responsibility as officers in the Active Army, Army Reserve and National Guard.
According to the 1987 constitution of the Republic of the Philippines Article
II section XIII The state recognized the important role of youth in the development
of the country and must promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual,
intellectual, and social welfare. It will establish in the youth of patriotism and
nationalism and will encourage their participation in public and civic activities.
ROTC members has an advance program serve in all branches of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines. The ROTC grants qualified student-cadet’s scholarship
benefits through a merit-based incentive program in return for an obligation of
military service in the reserve force, or active duty in the AFP if given the
opportunity, after graduation.
Philosophy
Reserve Officer Training Corps Philosophy is providing an excellent
preparation for law school and other professional programs. ROTC program focus
on the an individual. It can build the communication skills, positive attitude,
adaptable to change, teamwork skills and being goal oriented. It develops during
the ROTC program to generate ideas in solving problems, analyzing and criticizing
the logical arguments and to interpret the knowledge and thoughts you have
gain. ROTC program is a big help to the future of an individual.
The underlying philosophy of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program can be
traced back to colonial days, when frontiersmen embraced their responsibility to
take up arms for the common defense to an individual and the country. We have
been committed to the principle that national security is a responsibility of
citizenship and that those to whom our country has given a higher education
shoulder the responsibility of leadership since our nation's creation. This theory is
formalized and implemented through the ROTC program.
Objective
Reserve Officer Training Corps program will to a powerful and disciplinary
people that can fight for the country and for himself/herself. ROTC program will
the power of securing the country from its globally competitors.
Mission
Reserve Officer Training Corps is to build College students to develop their
skills in different scope. To have a courage to take the responsibility as a ROTC
member to protect the country and an individual.
