Mandatory ROTC in the Phil ROTC Program includes basic military training to motivate, train, organize, and utilize students for national defense preparedness or civil-military operations. This will help cultivate not only the personal growth and development as individuals, but more importantly, it enable us to play a key role in building a just, humane and democratic society. ROTC stands for Reserve Officer’s Training Corps. What is the importance of mandatory ROTC? The ROTC aims to bring better sense of purpose among the youth by building upon valuable “leader-follower” relationship. ROTC will teach younger generations about the essence of patriotism. It will inculcate in their minds and hearts a deep love for one’s country. ROTC is believed and seen to promote culture of discipline and responsibility; provides opportunity to inculcate the values of patriotism, nationalism, and character- building; provides training that will develop students’ leadership skills.
