Pero, pero, pero bago yan mga ka accelerate let us appreciate the one who created this law,

Sir Isaac Newton who left us in awe. Being one of the most influential scientists of all time. His

discovery at the age of 23 surely rings a chime! 2 This man's spectacular contribution, certainly,

deserves great appreciation!

Ngayon, I’ll introduce you to the 2nd law of motion, the law of acceleration, which is

caused by the unbalanced forces acting upon an object, it has a formula that you should never

forget.

Acceleration is directly proportional to the net force and inversely proportional to mass. 3

So, objects will move farther and faster when they are pushed harder, and heavier objects need

more force to move the same distance as lighter objects.2

So now, let’s have a word problem:

Gio wants to use his table for studying but, there is a pile of books at his table. This pile

of books has a mass of 2 kg. He pushed it with a force of 6N so he can use the space. However,

there is a 2N-friction, which opposes his force.

Let's solve for it mga ka accelerate!

First, let us determine the given:

a 2kg mass,

a 6N force,

and friction of 2N.

To solve this, we need to use the formula acceleration= net force/mass (a=Fnet/m). Fnet

is the sum of all the forces acting on the object so, let's add 6N and (-2N). This equals to 4N, which

sums up the net force of the problem. Afterward, divide it by 2 kg which results in 2 meters per

second square. So, the acceleration of the pile of books is 2 meters per second square.
