The movie is all about Doctor Jose Rizal’s exile and it shows how he spend four years in
Dapitan. Rizal was thrown to Dapitan by the Spanish Government and Friars because they are
scared of his existence and a person who cannot easily control by them. Captain Ricardo
Carnicero the military governor of the district welcomes Rizal and give him and option whether
he wants lives in Captain house or in the Convent but Father Obach has a condition before
Rizal can live on Convent, Rizal choose to stay on Captain Carnicero house because he does

because of Josephine and she said the real purpose why Bracken married him, Rizal confronts
Bracken and asked her if all of his sister said was true, he was so angry that he did not want to
hear any excuses of her, Rizal left in great anger and frustration. Rizal was lonely thinking

 deeply when his one of his sister came to him and said that his wife will give birth soon so Rizal
hurried to his wife and assisted it in childbirth but their child died and he is so sad about it, he
buried his son under his house. After 4 years of being exile, Rizal can now go to Cuba which he
wants to happen for a long time but because of what happened to him, he did not want to leave
in Dapitan but one of his sister forced him to leave because she is scared of what Spaniards
might do to his brother if he does not leave and Rizal was convinced and he packed all of his
things and burned his hut. When Rizal was about to leave, so many people from Dapitan are
there saying goodbye for Doctor Jose Rizal because he made the Talisay beautiful and gave
color on it, he made the life easier for the people who lives there and all they can do is giving
him a happy goodbye. The film’s representation of Jose Rizal has so many skipped parts based
on what I read and I think that there are parts in the movie that created in Director’s imagination
only and put it as part of it. Albert Martinez did a great job showing us how hard working Rizal
was, how he so much wanted to help his countrymen to give them a bright future and how
faithful Rizal was to what he said, Albert showed us that Jose Rizal is just a human who wants a
freedom on his own country, he portrayed Jose Rizal as an inventor, intelligent, handsome,
maestro and respectable person. I think the film was created because the director wants to

show Filipinos that year how hard is the life of a person who don’t have a freedom on his own

country. The main question in the film for me is why own life is difficult to control by oneself but
