Act. 1 – Kinds and Sources of Pollution

l. Purpose: 1. to make a visual survey of the place of your choice (barangay, park, etc.)
2. to observe and identify the kinds and sources of pollution
3. to describe the chief effects observed pollutants

1. Observe and complete the following data: study area, date, location, time started and ended

Nature of the area: The area is a vacant lot for now but it used to be a storage house

1. What types of pollutions are prevalent in your study area? Plastic


2. Is there a need to know about the effects of pollutions to health of the people? Why? Yes,
because toxic chemicals leach out of plastic and are found in the blood and tissue of nearly all
of us. Exposure to them is linked to cancers, birth defects, impaired immunity, endocrine
disruption and other ailments.
3. Is there a need to monitor pollution on land and bodies of water? Yes, so that we can protect
and be able to preserve our environment.
4. As citizen of your community, what possible measures, recommendations can you share to
control pollution problems? (add additional lines if needed)

Measures Solutions

1. Weekly monitoring Weekly monitor the area to


maintain the cleanliness of the
area.
2. Additional Garbage Can The waste will not be exposed and
the odor will be lessened.
3. Segregation It separates the reusable waste and
compostable waste.

5. How can you lead awareness for such concerns? By educating the community the effect of
pollution in the environment and in our health.
6. What has the government done to control pollution in your area? The LGU provide a garbage
truck that collects the garbage every week.
7. Cite some ordinances, rules, regulation on pollutions in your barangay. (you can get copy from
your barangay officials)
